Cane's will make quick work of the Devils. I imagine they'll take one at home for a quick 4-1 series.
I still assume Markstrom will take the brunt of the blame, despite the team in front of him being completely outmatched and constantly hanging him out to dry. Same as the Flames/Oilers series

18th overall and Bahl is a pretty nice return on Markstrom.

That was an excellent hockey game. Both goalies were excellent. Devils see the better team in the first, Canes dominated the second.
Devs needed a bounce to tie it and it didn't come.
Onto game 3.

Making the playoffs for a #7 D and a mid 1st pick is a pretty nice return.

Most teams don't trade a 1st-round pick just so they can make the playoffs.
As for the ‘#7 D’, Bahl played all 82 games his last season in New Jersey. Seventh defencemen don't do that. He played 21:23 per game this season for the Flames, which is second-pairing usage.

Well, it's not like the Flames would've made the playoffs if they hadn't made that trade. If anything, they may have missed by a few points instead of a tiebreaker.
So I'm more than happy with the trade. If the Devils are happy giving up what they gave up just to get blasted in the first round, good for them I guess.

But they can join us in the offseason on Sunday.

Lol
His team gives a 1st and a young budding top 4 dman for an old starting goalie. Then the team they traded with replaces the old goalie with a younger better goalie and then finishes 5 points ahead of his team in the standings .....and he tries to dunk on us because his team gets to be pummeled in the playoffs they only made because of favorable divisional alignment.
Hahaha

Make the playoffs and we can have a discussion.
I lived in Calgary for 16 years. The flames missed the playoffs more than they made them. They won exactly ONE game in the second round.
If that's dunking, so be it. Consider yourself dunked upon.

You got hosed on that trade and finished 5 points below the Flames in the standings you simpleton. Plus youre getting demolished in round 1. You're not dunking on anybody.

How is that dunking …..
You got a 35 year old hot head inconsistent goalie for a 1st round pick and a 2nd pairing d man. That’s a hefty ugly price for a goalie.

Markstrom had a .900 save percentage. Not sure he was the key to the Devil's making the playoffs.
