If the Flames got an extra 1st or 2nd in an Andersson trade I can see that being flipped for Carlo.

Nah. Blocking/ignore is for pearl clutching children.
I’m not talking about this one instance. You’ve been on with this nonsense for some time, most recently Seth Jones.
I mentioned last week but I’m sure we will be seeing several posts a day, every day or near to it, next year about how/why aren’t the Flames tanking to get McKenna and they’re idiots for not doing so.

I think I will disagree. The 2 times we had the best teams in the league we had our defence set the tone for our attack.
Get the puck back quick and get it up ice, they won't always show up on the score sheet but they get the forwards going.
A group that can skate and create a 2nd wave of attack and get back. We had guys lke Gio, Bordie, Hanifin, Tanev, Kylington. Feels like we got a group coming up that are similar type of guys, and a few on the roster right now in Pachal and Weegar.

This only makes sense if Weegar is playing LD full time.

If his name was Brando Carlo, I'd say go. But that extra n makes it pretty meh.

What’s the point. That would be a brutal move

It would signify that Craig wants to try and compete, which is scary in my honest opinion.
With that said I too think using a 1st would be absolutely brutal.

His possession metrics are pretty brutal. 37% last year and 40.9% this year a career 44%.
But his xGF has been positive most of his career.
Don't think I have seen that before.

Wouldn't we have to see the two moves to call it/them brutal?
If the Flames got a package of a top prospect a 1st and a 2nd for Andersson, and then moved the 2nd for Carlo I could get on board.
Adds a player to help the team that still feels they are in it.
Avoids an 8 year contract to a 29 year old player.

Getting Carlo, a prospect and a 1st via any trade configuation for Andersson would be perfectly fine.

Agree with most that the only way I'd consider this is to essentially swap Rasmus with Carlo, but overall gain assets (young players, draft picks).
As an example using some recent rumors:
To NJ - Rasmus (50%), Pospisil for Nemec, Mercer, 2nd
To Boston - NJ 2nd, CGY 3rd, Miro for Carlo
Out: Rasmus, Pospisil, Miro, 3rd
In: Nemec, Mercer, Carlo
That looks a bit too good truthfully haha... but if Connie is waiting for a great deal to move Rasmus, I'd hope to see something like this.

I feel like the Flames would keep Andersson through the season even if they made this move but likely means they head into the draft with the goal of trading him there.

This would be incredible! Then they just need to trade Kadri and hopefully Coleman as well. Get younger and get rid of long term cap his so when they’re ready to compete for the cup, they have cap space to pay studs.

Totally makes sense. Flames probably would be looking to move Rasmus if they got Carlo. Get an extra year of a right shot dman who can play top 4 minutes to give Parekh/Mews/Hunter B more time to develop if needed. Not sure how it does not make sense.
What does not make sense is bringing in young dmen and throwing them to the wolves by not having legitimate NHL dmen in the lineup to shelter them.

Because Weegar, Bahl, Pachal are not legit NHL dmen.
