If I've learned one thing about the Flames over the years, it's that they always do the exact opposite of what you expect from them, both for good and bad.

Cali nailed it earlier today. This is a game the Flames were primed to lose so of course they pulled it out.
LOL, ya'll are welcome. I will accept ritual sacrifices of single malt scotch and braised lamb shoulder.

Not sure either team will catch the kings, but anything’s possible, the make up game Flames / Kings at the end of the season may have playoff implications.
Not sure if they've checked the standings recently but the kings are three points back on the oilers with three games in hand. If the kings can be caught, so can the oilers.

Checking the standing is too complicated for the Oilers fans.

The Kings are 19-3-2 at home and have 17 of 27 games left at home. I think with that schedule they're more likely to climb than fall.

Avs are a greater risk of falling than LA I think.

4 points back.

Pretty sure vancouver is going to collapse. I don’t think the flames are.

Vancouver will blow it up at the deadline

We'll see. After LA the Canucks have 3 winnable games in a row. I'd love it if they bowed out early and sold off at the deadline though.

I see him more like our new Joey Mullen. Hard to believe he was sent down at the beginning of the year. He's not going back to the AHL.

Great game and great battle and buy in from everybody!
I’ll eat a little crow on VLadar, good job buddy.

A few comments: that ice must have been utter sh&?..
So many players expecting the puck to be in different places and fumbling the puck on both sides.

Holy crap that is the slowest I’ve ever seen Backlund look. What the heck is going on with him.. thought he would be rested and refreshed but he looked even worse.

I’m liking Solo, and so glad Bahl is back. Andersson looked SO much better today.

Backlund has had a long career that started with many injuries. Time it seems may have caught up with him. We shall see if he has anything left in the tank for a playoff push.

I think they are going to implode. There’s something going on in their dressing room

I think Backlund has hit the age wall.

Based on his play earlier in the year, it's not previous injuries catching up to him or age-related skill decline.

Backlund has been leading all Flames forwards in ice-time for almost the entirety of this season, which he's never done before. He's averaging 19:10 ATOI. This is on top of facing the toughest match-ups each night. The Flames are essentially asking him to be Anze Kopitar, even though Backlund has never been on the same tier of player as Kopitar.

That's a lot to ask of a guy that's turning 36 in a month. He's probably just very fatigued from over-use and probably won't have anything left in the tank for playoffs, even now that they've started to scale back his ice-time to ~16-17 mins/night.

Don’t want to get too far ahead of myself but did we just watch a Stanley Cup final preview?

Holy hell what a win. The 1st period needs to be framed and put in a museum. The Coronato goal was amazing. Loved the way he dropped the shoulder like he was going to shoot glove side then the puck is immediately off his stick top shelf blocker side.

That win goes to Huska, who pushed ALL the right buttons last night.

Compare their dressing room to the clown-show of the Favorite Sons... one coach is getting everything out of his team, the other throws his goalie under the bus, after double-shifting his top 2 guys all night.
