That was my tradition back when we met the Wings in the playoff rounds in the 00's. Not just wings, buffalo style so they were read. Delicious anytime, but epecially when we're up against Detroit in a very meaningful/consequential game.

The actual odds are bizarre too.
DET is listed as going to 39% with a W, and 27% with a loss. However, there are 7 teams legitimately in the race for 2 spots, and DET would still be on the outside looking in with a win, and in 5th-7th with a loss. I would say CBS, TBL, BOS, NYI and NYR are all more likely than DET to get in. So I would think their chances are well under 20%.
Meanwhile, CGY currently holds a spot, and with a win, could move into 3rd in the division. Yet a W only moves them to 59%, and a loss to 47%. And yet, 3 of these 4 teams are going to make it:
LAK: +9
COL: +9
CGY: +7
VAN: +5
You would think that, with a win, and moving to +8, and 3 of those 4 teams are likely in, that their chances should be up in the 75-80% range. I mean, they could be in 3rd in the division after today.

- The team was expected by many to be a lottery team going into the season.
- They have a chance tonight to move into 3rd in the Pacific in February
- GM just made a move to improve the team acquiring Frost and Farabee both making their debuts tonight
- Wolf was named rookie of the month + 13-3-1 at home this year
- First 8PM Saturday game at home in what feels like forever
- Detroit has been playing really well 12-3-1 in their last 16
So yeah, I can see why this is a pretty big game and definitely understand the extra buzz for tonight.

Backlund not being in the PP frees him up to play the first 5v5 shift after the PP. These are situationally important shifts that can stifle any momentum after a good PK.
