Last season, Kuzmenko stunk in Vancouver, got traded, took a couple of weeks to figure it out, and then suddenly remembered how to hockey.
If he follows the same path this season, look out.

So is Wolf the best goaltender drafted by the Flames since Vernon? I mean I know it's incredibly early, but it's also an incredibly low bar

If Kuzmenko and Sharky get going, that would be a tsn turning point.

The Flames always do the opposite of what I assume. That’s why I knew this would be a win. It’s almost predictable once you figure out their tendencies.
A little shakey in the 3rd. But otherwise great game. Winnipeg is a really good team. Good for the Flames.

Probably would add almost a goal a game which would be massive considering our goaltending and defensive play.

So. Dustin Wolf .
Those saves tonite he made look routine. Like as in B O R I N G yawn come on!!! Are you not entertained?!?!?
Thing is Dustin wont grow an EGO too big. No difference in the mentality Kipper had. Neither take themselves too seriously. Wow. Just refreshing and your teams confidence just soars .
I hope Dustin doesnt get a sore back carrying this team though. We shirt the bed so many times and he just bails guys out . Ive never seen a goalie Kipper incuded who is doing certain things you take for granted and Miika was incredible.
Were so so lucky . We cooked him long enough in the A and we now have something . Were witnessing somethin well likely never see again.
As for Kuzy. I hope someone challenges him. Back up your words man. Lets go to playoffs. Yeah man its time to start showing us the real deal here and not just the talk man. Every game you could change the outcome of a game all by yourself. Super talented.
Was he on a line with Coronato? How isnt Matty PP1??? Btw??? This is like watching Cammalleri again but Mattys a better skater. Man hes put in the work.
Kerins looked dead tired on a few shifts. But hes doing the right things.
Great win

Then add Zary as our own home-grown trade deadline addition.

Had to watch this one on delay. Sorry for the late response.
wow...Wolf...nothing more needs to be said. We have our starting goalie, and the kid will probably be a perennial all star. Job done.
Coleman had a helluva game. You could tell early on he was going to be a difference maker.
On the other hand, Kadri...woof. 2 lazy offensive zone stick penalties to put the #1 powerplay to work against his team. He pissed me off tonight.
Gutsy win against a clearly superiorly talented team. Hard to beat team on their home ice. Full marks for the effort, even if it was ugly.
Someone seeing the score and then actually watching the game:

Maybe not cheer for. But being okay with a Oilers win is fine in my book tonight.
I'll always look to see what benefits the flames the most and hope for that. Flames are making a run for the playoffs. Every point counts. Vancouver losing tonight is best for the Flames.
Heading into a a week where the Flames have 4 days off to start, having that three point cushion means they likely are still in playoff spot when they play next.

Kerins at a point per game pace in the NHL (as well as the AHL so far this season)

Who says we need top picks to get elite players? Dustin Wolf was selected in the 7th round with nearly the last possible pick.
Flames have done just fine making picks outside of the top ten and the first round. While it would be nice to have a franchise center right now too, I suspect the Flames will find a way to piece together a pretty great team with their drafting prowess. It's also a hard cap league, and some star players will become available to supplement that drafting. Trades happen too. There isn't one way to build a team.

Flames currently have 8 draft picks next draft. Unless there's a very clear BPA that isn't a C, I hope they have 8 new C prospects next draft.

8 of the top 20 Centers (as listed on NHL.COM) were drafted out of the top 10. Hintz and Aho in the second round. Sure I’d rather a few of the top picks on that list, but I’d be more than happy to land an Aho or Hintz with a late 1st.

Size pure and simple. The blues are a BIG team with pretty good talent and a few "game breakers". Size is still a pretty big part of the game. Jets are an "average" sized team with few game breakers . The blues are the new Honda curse because they are built like the ducks of the past. You can get by in the nhl with bigger teams and a little less talent if you just throw your opponent around during board battles. Its alot easier to to contain an elite team if they are smaller as your guys are more equal to winning those puck battles. If that makes sense. Every puck battle ends up being more 50/50 vs the bigger teams just dumping you a second or 2 after a puck touch.
