Looking at the way these articles came out, first they are close and the next few days the GM says they need to make a lot of hard choices with receivers.
Probably not as close as we thought as they have to juggle things to find the money?

2 weeks until Free Agency. We will see a flurry of signings next week. Will be interesting to see who tests the market.

I think that could be exactly what they're dealing with plus the fact we don't know how much campaigning behind the scenes that VA might be doing for McInnis to join him in Calgary.

Wow Rose and Vaughters released that's huge and doesn't make sense unless they tried to renegotiate contracts.
Vaughters never looked the same after his knee injury.

Yeah, two staples from the defensive line, but maybe it's a sign that DD is going to be very active in free agency.

Well it was time for a reset on D to be sure and those two guys have been a big big part of it all.
Still though....holy smokes.

I think losing Rose will hurt more than losing Vaughters, dependent on who will be replacing them. Clearly a plan in place.

I'm not surprised about Vaughters. The returns were nowhere near good enough compared to what they were probably paying him and it's not like he was coming back from a severe leg injury where his burst off the line was affected. He just wasn't impactful enough. I agree with DP above that it's probably a sign they are looking towards free agency for DL for a big fish to replace at least one of these two.

With Flo here and maybe recruiting I think we make a big push for Jake Ceresna now, a player Flo mentioned.
We also have a gaping hole in the middle now as well, you have to wonder if we circle to Winton McManis.
Time to raid the Argonauts, not really its just getting our own players back.

DD continues the signing barrage...
The Calgary Stampeders have signed American tight end Ryan Jones.
The six-foot-two, 235-pound native of Charlotte, N.C. attended training camp with the New York Giants in 2023 and made three catches for 21 yards during the preseason. He made the team’s practice roster but did not see any action during the regular season.
The 25-year-old started his collegiate career as a linebacker at the University of Oklahoma, recording 29 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one interception over 18 games. He converted to tight end after transferring to East Carolina University where he made 78 receptions for 855 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Calgary Stampeders have signed American defensive lineman Micheal Mason.
The six-foot-three, 280-pound native of Mullins, S.C. signed with the Los Angeles Chargers after going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft. He made three tackles over two preseason games but was released at the conclusion of training camp.

Back to the draft, I do say you pick Rourke. He's going to bounce around like his brother from NFL camp to camp, getting Farhan and Dave Naylor all juiced up, but eventually come to Canada.
Stamps can trade him at whatever point before he sets foot in the league and get a decent haul based soley on the hype.

Yeah I don't think he will stick in the NFL. In two years the opportunity to play in the CFL will likely bring him up north. VA likely has another good 3-4 years in him but this could be the kind of move that sets up the Stamps for the next decade.

The Bombers have signed James Vaughters...
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American defensive lineman James Vaughters to a one-year contract. He was recently released by the Calgary Stampeders ahead of an offseason roster bonus.
The 31-year-old made 32 defensive tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles over 18 regular-season games this past season as a full-time starter at defensive end. He was much more productive in 2023 as he made 15 defensive tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles over just six games before suffering a season-ending injury to his arm.

Orange Julius type rumour stuff so take it for what it's worth, but I was chatting with someone connected to the Stamps today, and they mentioned they're trying to get people out of the locker room who didn't want to be here. Both their names were brought up.
