Nah, only way Wolf wins if he takes over and has 30 starts over the remainder of the season and the Flames make the playoffs. Celebrini and Michov will be tough to beat if they keep rolling.

Regarding goalies winning the Calder - there is no bias against them. Only 10% of an NHL roster is goalies, so we should expect that 10% of the Calder trophies are won by goalies. However, in every time frame you look at, goalies have lifted more than 10% of the trophies.

There has been a drought lately (it's been 15 years), but even with that drought, there have been 3 winners since the turn of the century (24 years). That's 12.5%. There have been 6 in the last 50 years (12%), and 16 in the history of the Calder (17.5%)

All pretty much as expected, statistically.

And if you think about how goalies are typically brought into the league (slowly and carefully), vs talented forwards (typically play full minutes right away), one would expect that goalies would have fewer Calders than expected statistically, not more.

tl/dr: goalies can win the Calder, and they're due to get one.

McDavid would weep of envy to see another player get that haul.

If Hockey Reference is correct, the Oilers have a grand total of one player on their current roster who is Calder-eligible: Noah Philp.

I mean, wotthehell. He's played three whole games so far! He has a point! He's an Oiler! Obviously a lock for the Calder. Vote early and vote often!

There are many goalies in the league who have played the lion's share of their teams games who have better stats than Wolf, as good as he has been.

Think of Hellybuyck, Gustavsson, Thomson, Ullmark, Vasilesky and Markstrom to start.

Calder is one thing, but currently he wouldn't be mentioned for Vezina and Hart.

Hart? He certainly won't be beating out multiple 100 point guys.
