Typically you would expect to see slow teams with worse differentials and fast teams with better, because one of the best ways to draw penalties in this sport is to get the jump on a guy in a foot race.

0.6, equating to 36 seconds less PP time per game, than average is hardly a huge number.

-0.6 is a 25 penalty swing over the course of the season, which probably results in a +/-6 goal swing. which probably represents about 3 points in the standings at the end of the year.

Not always a meaningful number, but in Kadri and Huberdeaus first year here they were -0.9, they missed the playoffs by 2 points that season, and their penalty differential almost certain played a role. I'd argue that missing the playoffs that year is a large part of the reason the team was forced into a fire sale of it's best players. And overall I'm not disappointed in how things are shaping up, but it made a difference.

For the Flames I had to look back to the bubble season to find the last time they were not in the bottom 10 in the league for penalty differential. This post Johnny/Monny iteration of the Flames doesn't rack up a ton of penalties, but for whatever the reason is, they are terrible at drawing penalties and it does make a difference.
