The first round pick was the best asset we got in that trade.

A lazy post.

Bahl was a bit of a lottery addition which has turned out quite nicely.

What are you talking about? Granted I haven't watched every game but Bahl has looked good to me and the upside is obvious.

I don’t think goaltending or defense are this teams problem.

We don’t have enough offensive firepower and our powerplay is to anemic to keep up with the better teams.

High energy physical guys are going to take penalties. Maybe aren't planned and will just happen randomly, which means they can happen at really bad times.

Honestly I thought that bench penalty was more inexcusable.
I don't think Bennett takes as many in the O zone anymore. That's the issue he had here and seems to be the issue with Pospisil.

Yeah 50% on the PP last night. Terrible!

Bennett still takes his fair share of offensive zone penalties. This Pospisil penalty wasn't an especially dumb one either. He got tied up with an opposing player in a heated battle and unluckily his stick swung around and hit them in the head. Not a case of him just attacking another player, but a byproduct of playing a tough game.

17th in GA/GP

13th in GF/GP

Team defense/goaltending is, and will be, the determining factor for this club all year.

Not when you’re scoring 2 goals or less.

Our goalies have played great other than a game or two. Our defense has got steadily better since the first few games.

Our powerplay is back to horrible and we don’t have any forwards that can consistently put the puck in the net. Puts alot more pressure on the goalies and D.

Disappointed in the result of course.

I have to remind myself that one team is $52 under the cap, and the other is millions of dollars under the cap.

Also, one team is desperately hoping that they sign one missing player and that’s the team for years to come. Years. And it can’t/won’t be changed. That’s literally best case scenario for them. The other team is in the midst of a rebuild and will only get better in the years to come.

But I still hate to lose to them.

Assuming he wasn't good in one particular game, how does that affect the overall assessment?

Yeah Bahl has been good - he's not a finished product yet either, which is encouraging. I see no reason why he isn't a top 4 fixture for years to come. Seems like a great piece for a rebuilding club. Players like him don't come around all that often.

I know it's a lot to ask, but my preference is to tank against everyone except the Oilers, Canucks, and Leafs.

Lose to everyone else.

He really hasn't been though. He is bleeding shots against at one of the worst rates on the team.

He's ok, but he's not fantastic.

I think when you put it in perspective, this team has one of the lowest team salaries in the league and should honestly be at the same level as the Sharks/Blackhawks/Anaheim, but aren't and are a better possession team than half the league, it's a testament to the will of the team and the coaching staff.

We should be waaaaaay worse. We aren't. I am happy with that even if this season will be a tough watch.

Everyone is just worried that the "will" of this team is going to prevent them from drafting bottom 5 and instead end up in the bubble position.

Moving Andersson would likely solve that issue. They could get a haul for him and, in the words of Lahey, it would really boot the team down that sh$% hill and into sh$*-town.

This team is a couple reliable scorers away from being an every year playoff team in the west. They aren't nearly as bad as many anticipated.
