I thought Lucic became a lot less effective after he got suspended for punching guys with his gloves on.
Reeves had/has a similar reputation, but no one fights him, and he remains largely ineffective.
That said, I thought that Gaudreau and Tkachuk weren't as worried about extra curriculars after the whistle or dirty hits when we had Lucic, Gudbranson, and Zadorov.

Remember Kane in the Heritage Classic lipping off loudly and saying: "Who's gonna do something?" How demoralizing crap like that is. With Lucic in the lineup, you didn't notice Kane or Nurse at all. Not a peep.
I also remember Reaves running around one game, and then Lucic went up to him. Thought that they were going to finally fight for sure, and it didn't happen. What did happen was that I didn't notice Reaves for the rest of the night.

Not much for a variety of reasons. It’s more of a skill game now and plenty of teams don’t employ goons. Also players try to avoid concussions and unnecessary blows to the head.

When Kassian was whaling on Tkachuk and Lucic just watched in unfold and didn't get involved, I lost a lot of respect for him.
I've lost even more respect for him after the domestic abuse allegations, but that is another story.

I was pretty upset with how things unfolded then as well. Especially with the narrative that Lucic was friends with the Oilers' players. I thought he only got to fight Nurse if I'm not mistaken.
That said, our players definitely were a lot more willing to go to the front of the net and into the corners after our team toughness was established. Even guys like Dube, Mangiapane, and Andersson were playing with a lot more grit.
I'm not saying that you must have heavyweights, but I also remember how deflating it is when Hamonic is your designated tough guy, and he gets his face fructured by Gudbranson , fighting after a bad hit.

I immediately got the TSN Spengler Cup theme music playing in my head as soon as I read HC Davos. I miss hockey.

Kane was his normal dbag self with Lucic on the team...Kane was chirping Kadri who had his cup ring in his ear
Flames best player got ragdolled by a goon and Lucic did F all
There is also zero chance they touch him after the abuse allegations

Ah, Jakub Zboril. The "other" Saint John Sea Dogs blueliner selected in the first round of the 2015 draft.
Boy did the Bruins exemplify the fact that having a bunch of picks early is really helpful that year, even when you're terrible at drafting. They did a horrible job, and still came out of it with two useful, long-term, middle-of-the-lineup players in DeBrusk and Carlo, and Jeremy Lauzon, who's managed to make a decent career as a regular depth player.
