Luke Misa is now 6th in OHL scoring (9th in plus/minus) with 31gp/21g/27a/48pts,+20, 2 PIM, after putting up 31 points in his last 15 games. In 4 games without linemates Porter Martone and Carson Rehkopf, he has 10 points- showing that he is not being carried by anyone.

That is a huge thing to make mention of. He is producing without the other stars on his team.

I know the infatuation with McKenna is high, but Mike Misa is putting up surreal numbers in the OHL, is a center, and we already have his brother too. This would be a pretty unreal lottery to win.

Refresh my memory, if Vegas's pick wins the lottery next year does it count towards the Flames for the limit on winning in a short period? If it doesn't, the Flames could win the lottery in 2025, 2026 (with Vegas's pick), and 2027!
They won't, though. We know they won't. Doesn't mean we can't hope for it, though.

Doesn’t matter. Better brother. I would be happy for the Flames to snag the lesser brother this draft though but will have to be happy with wherever they draft

With the Vegas 1st, because it would be more delicious that way.

I think a team can only move up in the lottery twice no matter whose pick it is. Win this year and then be dead last the next two years and win it both times.

Even dead last has to win a lottery to pick 1st so a team can only pick top 2 twice over a 5-year window. Im curious if that counts for both 1st and 2nd overall, I'd imagine it does. 2nd is still a lottery win. Curious because Chicago got 2nd last year, if so they aren't eligible again for 3 more years. Increases the chances for other bottom 10 teams.

If I recall correctly, San Jose & Chicago staying at their respective #1 & #2 spots doesn't count against that rule, so as long as you continue finishing dead last, you can pick #1 as many times as the lottery allows

Right. Here's the language straight from the NHL's media site:
Quote:
No single team can advance in the draft order by reason of winning a Lottery Draw more than two times in any five-year period. This limitation will not affect a team’s ability to retain its presumptive draft position in any Draft Lottery, nor would it preclude the possibility of the team moving down in draft order to the extent other teams advance by reason of winning the Lottery Draws. For purposes of clarity, the limitation would attach to the team, not the specific pick.
|
https://media.nhl.com/site/asset/pub...tteryGuide.pdf
So if you finish dead last and win the lottery, you keep the #1 pick even if you would be ineligible to move up. Also, if you finish dead last and pick #1 (or second-last and pick #2) it doesn't count against your five-year limit because you did not actually advance in the lottery. At least that's how the rule is written.
