Unless the feds change the rules surrounding the F-1 visas, NIL is going to be very small for Canadians. I can't see them running back to Canada to film commercials and practice and study. One can only make so much money from jersey sales, which is about all the athletes can profit from on US soil.

He'd have to wait until 2029, but... yeah, he could.

NIL is a salary effectively for college athletes
College football players are making more the nfl players in some cases
I don’t think they have to actually do and “work” - the team would just use them on marketing material

Not very hard. Just pay them in the summer when they're home.

Foreign players are very limited in what they can earn from NIL.

That's what I figured, that some of the traditionally strong programs would load up. Michigan in particular has been on a bit of a down cycle.

I have wondered if Parekh should do this. He could make the team, but a year in college could be the best thing for him. Older players, structure, etc.

I think because he signed, he cannot.

I think technically Mews could opt out and re-enter the draft next year

Isn't the draft next year after June 1, 2026?

If he’d play next year in the CHL and not sign, then he’d re-enter the draft i think.

Well according to that article, if he goes NCAA next year then they should hold his rights until Aug. 15, 2027. That's great.

It would be astonishing if Parekh is not on the team next year.
If he’s only the #6/7 PP specialist who plays 6 minutes a night on the man advantage and 5 at even strength, he’s here.
Not even Huberdeau in his prime is as offensively gifted.
If he gets load managed the first half of the year, so be it - just don’t let him get hurt.

Ann Arbour is a 50 minute drive to Windsor. One could have a Tuesday where they have no classes, leave at 7 AM in the morning and be filming NIL content in Canada by 830 AM and still have time to have stopped for a coffee.

They'll just use an Asian dude named Lan Du to write his tests.

Mews has 80 points in 63 games as a defenceman in his draft + 1 year. I do find it a bit funny that Paraekh's 100 point season has somewhat overshadowed what is an outstanding year for Mews. Points are not the be-all-end-all, but its hard not to get excited about the potential of these players.
I thought it would be fun to go look at the existing D rosters draft + 1 CHL year (or equivalent year if undrafted).
Andersson. 60 points in 64 games in his CHL draft + 1 year.
Weegar. 59 points in 61 games in his CHL draft + 1 year.
Bahl. 34 points in 68 games in his CHL draft + 1 year.
Bean. 45 points in 43 games in his CHL draft + 1 year.
Barrie. 72 points in 63 games in his CHL draft + 1 year.
Pachal. 51 points in 66 games in his 19 year old CHL year (undrafted).
Miramanov. 32 points in 38 games in his 20 year old CHL year (undrafted, he's had a fascinating pro journey)
Will be fun to follow.
