PLD is a straight loser who has given up on every team he has been on. Why would the caps want him?
To run the cap friendly website?

Keep PLD far away from the Flames. I can't believe some fans still would trade Huby for him

The Jets committed highway robbery when they got LA to take that loser off their hands!

He seems to get traded every season.
Must have no friends.

This is bad news for the Flames. We need contracts like Dubois in this division. Not only did they get out of it, they got a decent goalie back and shortened the term.

Kuemper sucks
A lot of fans keep missing this. He’s signed for three more years at over 5 shmil.
LA hasn’t fixed their goaltending. Kuemper sucks. Like sucks lots

WPG is the clear winner here.
There's a decent chance that PLD is a good player for WSH, but he usually takes a year to get used to a new team/city. It will be interesting to see how the WSH room handles it.

Ovechkin tells him to play by their rules or he can beat it (again)

Well, the market dictated that PLD had some positive value, as the Kings got a starting goalie for him. No way would Hubby fetch that.

This is the big difference. It's "only" 3 years at 5 mill.
Way smaller than Dubois' awful contract.

It’s a Neal for Lucic type of deal
Both teams claim they win but they are both losers to begin with

A lot of people are missing that point that Kuemper is 34 years old and declining. He's a downgrade on Talbot and Rittich but they are paying him more money than both of them combined until he's 37. This really doesn't improve the Kings on paper in fact it makes them worse. Dubois is only 25 years old and still has his best years ahead of him. He's is never going to be a star player but he's a big center that's going to put up 50-60 points for the Caps for the next 7 years and they are going to be rebuilding in the back half of that deal so his contract really won't be a big problem. It's not out of the realm of possibility that he matures and becomes a better teammate and if/when he gets back to 25 goals, 60 point seasons he was putting up with the Jets this trade will probably look like a win for the Caps when you consider they got him for a negative value player in Kuemper. If he continues to be the player he was for the Kings then it's a bad deal for the Caps but at 25 years old I highly doubt that he's not going to improve.

LA is a bigger crap city (...literally) than either Columbus or Winnipeg. There's a reason why money is fleeing LA/California.
What you're thinking of when you picture LA is LA in the 80s.

Goalies are voodoo, so maybe Kuemper bounces back. I can't find it now, but I saw a tweet saying the Caps only bought capfriendly to hide the details of the Dubois contract lol

Conroy said the goalie market was heating up and he wanted to get ahead of it before teams wanting goalies had made their moves.
I wonder if Gibson or Ulmark are on the move next.
This is a Neal for Lucic trade in my book. No winners, just trying to right some prior wrongs.

LA is still great for NHL players as it's a great place to live if you are rich and wealthy. If you are a regular Joe not so much because of the high cost of living and housing.

Actually, it’s the middle guys that got screwed. If you are rich or poor, California is great.
That said I know a lot of high tech people in California, they are not super rich but they like it there somehow.
