Overall, not a bad episode. Not very exciting, but not bad.

I understand why Kevin and Gurleen are playing the way they are, but I just don't like it. I understand that it's a holdover from their days on other, sleazier drama-heavy 'reality' shows, but that sort of thing just doesn't fit TAR's model.



They remind me quite a bit of Dave & Irina.

I also feel that if Dorthy and Olus had made it to this leg, Dorothy having to walk at least 4 km (at least 2x to the farm) would have put them out.

Well that was a waste of time. We got to watch them run around, arrange tiles, and complain about Kevin. No pit stop and no revelation of how the vote (which I hate) turned out.

I like the Uturn vote, adds some much needed drama and ensures the Uturn actually gets used -- very often the teams just don't do it, or they burn it, or it ends up unknowingly used on a team that's already passed it, so it just feels pointless. This way we know someone is gonna get hosed next episode.

I'm not sure why Kevin & Gurleen altered their strategy though, they started off targeting the wrestlers, who aren't very social and the teams they were suggesting it to seemed to be on board. Then they switched targets to the twins, who are much more popular, and that's when it started to turn against them. Dumb. If they would've stuck with the wrestlers as targets it would've worked.

Just to clarify, I don't hate the U-turn vote as much as the U-turn itself. I'd rather it just be a race and leave the manufactured drama out of it. I also dislike the express pass.

Re the Detour, it really does feel like a holdover from an earlier era of reality TV doesn't it.

Last season every team got one at the start of the race and it was up to them to choose where to use it.

I actually don't mind the current way it's set up, there is some chance involved but it's always in the lower half of the clues at a challenge, so it gives someone a chance to catch up, especially if they're a strong team that's just having a tough day. Last season the strong teams just held on to it until the last possible moment and like 3 teams used them all at the same challenge.

* Kevin & Gurleen lose last week's U-Turn vote, but they get to choose another team to also U-Turn. They pick Julia & Olivia.

This week, the teams travel to Penticton and spend a lot of time at wineries. Connor & John struggle with women's frilly undergarments, causing them to hit the Pit Stop last, sending them home.

Yeah - that was pretty silly. Just a blatant attempt to manufacture drama.

I get it - it is a show, a game, a race, etc. but that just seemed unnecessary and contrived.

What was the point of the previous episode? Seems rather pointless when everyone caught up and was tied at the start of part two of this leg. The only "prize" was first place being awarded the second U-turn vote, and given the prizes. Otherwise it made no difference.

Also sorry John it wasn't a good look when you wanted to quit and take the penalty multiple times in only three legs. They were not a good team.

It was basically a non-elimination leg without being called a non-elimination leg.
