The Devils just got a 2nd and a 3rd for a 44 point guy. Not sure why our current 45 point guy would be worth significantly less if they wanted to trade him than a guy who is 6 years older than him.

I mean, nothing to write home about. There were always better defensive players on the team. But playing under Sutter on multiple teams naturally keeps one at least passable on that front.

33 is less than 34. And 34 didn't get us a 2nd.
But your 20/20 retrospective goggles do appear to work. Now get to work on that time machine.

Man, that’s a really solid deal for the Jets. The retention was the cherry on top.

The Devils are not the Flames.
But we can revisit this in a year's time and take each others posts out of context.

We traded a 73 point guy. The Devils traded a guy on pace for 57 points and got a 2nd. Not sure why you are talking about what Toffoli got last year, the Devils traded him this year.

Suspect it will be Jets-Preds in the first round. Jets have 3 games in hand on the Stars and hold the tiebreaker.

33 replaces 34, so it is worth a 2nd and a 3rd, presumably
plus he is younger and cheaper - the same production, younger and cheaper, is worth more
but you keep talking time machines and all, instead of accepting that you were wrong because I really think it's working for you

That's not very charitable, Jiri.
I'm not that fixated on being right. I admit when I am wrong more than most around here. My perspective is actually that I think the Flames could or should be doing better and I am expressing disappointment when they fall short of my expectations. When the Flames are doing well or are living up to my expectations I am actually quite positive around here. I'm sure it goes unnoticed in a sea of rose colored glasses. But because the majority opinion around here appears to be that all Flames commentary should be strictly positive, I attract the ire of many when I call things the way I see them. If I think the Flames are getting short changed, I'm going to say so. Despite what some think, this is not an anti-Flames position.

Maybe you should lower your expectations because it seems like they don't reach them 99% of the time. You would have a much more enjoyable time being a Flames fan if you didn't have such lofty expectations. You'd also be a much more enjoyable poster and not usually be the center of conflict with your hard stance.
Don't worry, be happy.

Sure but not "one-dimensional". No one that played that many years under Sutter without running away is one dimensional.

Honestly, how old are you?
It has nothing to do with people being homers. You change the goal posts just to fight with everyone.

Care to explain?
Or are you just crapping on the Devils?

Don't forget 50% retention in this one - Calgary traded Toffoli at full rack rate.

The Devils didn't really do good here man, c'mon
They got 60 games of Toffoli in a non playoff year and a 2nd round pick and get to eat half of the rest of his contract for the year.
They also lost a better, younger, cheaper player in Sharangovich.
It certainly wasn't a win
