I think the story here is less about a young nhler doing blow and all about the dumb way he advertised it. It’s pretty common thing with these young players to dabble on the slopes just very uncommon to post it on insta!

It is a pastime for all people with too much disposable income. Give a 20 year old kid millions of dollars and problems will probably show up, in any business. It is not an NHL specific issue.

Sorry if anyone was offended that I said it was concerning if Honzek was a target recipient for the content. Apparently they do follow each other, but I don't know if they are that close.

That's a newer feature and almost no one uses it.
I know some parents will use it for posting their kids to only family and stuff like that, but that's about it.
Truth is, he 99% meant to post that to everyone, he's just that dumb.
I guess he was probably already high on coke too, so maybe that makes you do stupid things

I think it comes down to most people in Canada only see the big cities in the US, the places interesting enough for foreigners to have heard to them. Most foreigners have no idea how bad rural and small town USA actually is. And wow it is WTF bad.
The crazy thing is media wise it is portrayed totally opposite, like the cities are the bad parts, when they are actually so much nicer and safer. Having personal done both, I would feel safer walking down the sketchiest street in San Francisco with money literally hanging out of my pockets, than I would driving through Stockton.

Full disclosure, I am a Calgarian who lived in SF and has driven to Stockton many times.
Stockton is a small town with big city problems. It's often typecast as the murder capital of California. I would never recommend anyone visit there unless you have to, in my case I have family who live there. Those that choose to live in Stockton permanently, are on a constant crusade to stop the endless pipeline towards gangs, crime and illiteracy. California in general has a ton of extremes and yes, you only see the best parts of California upvoted to your phone.
When I heard that Calgary was going to have an AHL affiliate in Stockton, I was waiting for the team to back out at some point, due to the criminal elements associated to the town. In particular, if you are a young kid in town to play pro hockey, you would be an easy target for criminals to shake you down. I was pleasantly surprised nothing major had ever happened to any of the Flames prospects over the tenure of the Flames holding court in Stockton.
As for what Adam posted to his socials, it will be extremely difficult to come back from what will be online forever.

plus... one story on the Leafs, one on the Canucks, one on the Jets, and two on the Oilers - all that with 2 (other) Canadian teams in the finals. Pretty ironic that there is also a story on how pro hockey is a tough sell in the US

yeah although I think the 'Canucks' in question (the Foligno article) is more likely Team Canada at the Worlds
but its true the Flames are in the Finals and nowhere to be found- other than I'm sure derisively mentioned in the article about the playoffs being big and slow (they did - gasp- beat the amazing oilers after all)

It shouldn't be something that he can't come back from if he cleans up his act. After all, you can kill someone while under the influence and still get back into the NHL.
I hope he doesn't have an addiction problem.

I know nothing of Stockton. From wikipedia:
Quote:
In a 2010 Gallup poll, Stockton was tied with Montgomery, Alabama for the most obese metro area in the US with an obesity rate of 34.6 percent.[70]
In the February 2012 issue of Forbes, the magazine ranked Stockton the eighth most miserable US city, largely as a result of the steep drop in home values and high unemployment.[44]
In 2012 the National Insurance Crime Bureau ranked Stockton seventh in auto theft rate per capita in the US.[71]
In 2012, Stockton was ranked as the tenth most dangerous city in America and the second most dangerous in California (behind Oakland).[72]
In 2013, Stockton was ranked as the third least literate city in the U.S. in a study by Central Connecticut State University, with less than 17% of adults holding a college degree,[73] and ABC.com ranked the city as the third least literate of all U.S. cities with a population of more than 250,000 behind Bakersfield, California, and Corpus Christi, Texas.[74]
|
I would not have guessed somewhere in California would be tied for most obese city. Nor that a small city would be the 10th most dangerous city in America.

The rare "kick 'em when they're down" era of the Oilers. Another headline about the Steve Smith own-goal.

I can't wait for the day my in-laws are not in that city.. It's wild The Flames actually had their farm team in that town. Amazing really.
That place is WILD, you literally can't go out at night without fear of getting robbed.
Anyways, from what I saw of Ruzicka - he was a terrible pickup anyways and probably would've been waived anyway
