We'll get another "one yard line" quote at least!

Pretty sure he meant Robertson....

The draft has to fall the right way and you have no control on the lottery. Reaching for a center with 3rd line likelyhood at at pick 7 because thats the best center left type of thing is a great way to make sure you always suck. Even in a rebuild still draft the BPA not bybpositional desperstion. If things work out you'll get a shot at a good center with your own pick.

Flames just need to get assets (picks where possible). A young center can be an offseason focus.

Pretty sure I saw someone post somewhere on here that both Zary and Pospisil either want to play C, or the Flames plan to try them at C (or both).

That was on Barnburner, Conroy mentioned that bot Zary and Pospisil see themselves as Cs in the NHL. Conroy seemed less certain about the idea.

Conroy said that in the bit he did on Barn Burner after the Lindholm deal that both guys think they could be centers.
Unlike "19 year old Sam Bennett" these two are a bit older and mature and might be able to handle the added burden a bit easier. But it's a fine balance to take guys who are having good seasons snd some success and completely change their role before they even play 50 games.

There's no point unless the centre has top six potential. So you need someone buried on a team, where they are not being utilized correctly.
Turcotte
Lundell (if the drop in production is the mirage)
Bourque
Pinto
maybe you can pry Wright out of Seattle.
That's about it.

The guy I like is Pinto. I know most fans think it is crazy that the Sens would trade for a UFA but if they can sign him before the deal it allows them to ensure they get the player they want. Ottawa usually picks off the scrap heap at UFA time and outside of Giroux who just wanted to play in his hometown their UFA signings have bombed.

Taking a while to get to 5000

If Western Conference teams believe the path to the cup is through the Oilers, especially Pacific division teams, they'd be wise to steer clear of Markstrom IMO.

The next stud center for the Flames is the top 5, maybe top 10 pick in the next 3-5 years.
Nobody is going to give up their young centers. That doesn’t mean they can’t make mistake but it’s rare.

I'd be leery of Turcotte. Injury prone and hasn't played more than 36 games since he turned pro, and 40 games in a season at any level.

Also extremely rough production since turning pro. I agree that there should be more interesting options
