that's a archaic take that needs to get called out.

bet you just as many seemingly low key guys have assaulted a person as "party boys" have. just because someone seems nice doesn't mean that they actually are.
Fair call out. I’d still be surprised if any of those names are outed but you’re right.

The sentence we never thought we'd need.

I've just have seen far too many people who "seemed" like they'd do no wrong be horrible abusive people, and get a pass because of appearances.

Just a tough one. get a bunch of drinking, horny young males together that have always been the kings of their world and things easily go bad. Even someone who might normally not do such a thing could be involved.

thanks for taking my post the right way. I appreciate it.

Just a shame that whoever did it got to have their lives and careers with no repercussions.

From the sounds of this one, it seems like the older players pressured the young players to participate.

Most of what we get are these major incidents, but i’s easy to see how this was normalized and perpetuated for so long. Young players at 15-16 come in, abusers become their role models, and they become abusers themselves, and the cycle starts over.

It wouldn’t surprise me if there were multiple incidents of players taking advantage of and abusing women every single year, the majority of which will never be reported.

I'm glad this kind of thing is starting to be dealt with. It's hard to believe, but way back in 2003 it was kind of expected that these types of things happened. I knew lots of stories about guys in highschool doing pretty horrible things to women (girls). One comes to mind, where two guys had a 3some with a girl, someone filmed it in secret, and then showed everyone the video. I knew the girl, she was really nice - she had to move schools afterward.

The amount of damage that Hockey Canada has had a part in inflicting on young Canadian girls is appalling. For those of you with young boys in hockey in this age range what kind of conversations have you had with them about these things?

I could probably tell six stories from friends who played high level hockey. I cannot think of a way to tell them generically that would not come back to me that I told them.

Way more brutal than this stuff in this thread. Therapy for the guys just on the same team with no participation.

Hockey is prime breeding ground for monsters. I have two kids I have spent ungodly amounts of money on hockey for, but the one thing I have learned is that "crazy hockey parent" is the absolute perfect protection for predators. Way better to be a diddler than a crazy hockey parent. And I know there are plenty of crazy hockey parents. Graham James had teams of parents who knew but did not want to be cast off.

If my son was on James team and I knew, there would have been multiple reports of crazy hockey dad that excessively physically assaulted the coach going around.

Your kid probably wouldn’t be one of the ones he singled out then. They prey on the most vulnerable.

I was a huge Stajan fan, based on the approach he had to a tough situation here. It would be terrible if he was involved. But you never know. Bill Cosby was America's father figure in the 80s.
