Zboril went unclaimed in September, so this waivers is probably for contract termination. Speculation has him heading back to Czechia.

I agree with that. The team's cap space can only be spent once. I wouldn't spend it on a reclamation project when so much else is up in the air.

The Flames are not up against the cap. They have a good deal of flexibility at the moment. But if they blow their cap space on useless acquisitions, they will lose that flexibility for nothing.

Apparently you cannot see the difference between having cap space and choosing carefully how to use it, and having no cap space.

I get that and that's completely ok.

My point was that an underperforming team like the Flames shouldn't be this tight to the cap. The GM has no margin to make moves.

They are still in transition mode. They will have tonnes of cap space next year assuming they don't do any stupid with free agency

You're missing the point entirely.

The Flames don't have cap problems. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't make good cap decisions anyway. You can only spend it once - if there is a more efficient way to acquire the player, or if there is a better player/usage to spend the cap space on, you should do that. Whether you currently have cap issues or not.
