I'd put him right back with Tanev again. They seemed to pair well, like steak and red wine.

Wait until we get a haul for Hanifin first.

Excellent news. This would be the comeback story of the year.

The Flames are still on rather ####ty points pace for the season

But amazing how the climate has changed so quickly around the team to being much more focused on youth and opportunity.

And meanwhile they are playing quite well and there's a window to them climbing back into the playoff race.

Well they are in the race already, they were in a spot last night

Points pace since the call ups is well over 100 points and the schedule has been heavy on road games and tough opponents. The Flames have as many wins against playoff teams this week as the Canucks do all season.

I can see the desired path...

Kylington skates with the team until he's ready to play, goes to the Wranglers for a conditioning stint, comes up to play in the bottom pairing for a short stint to get up to NHL game speed, that's probably close to the TDL so Conroy does a sign and trade with Hanifin (and gets a haul) and Kylington saddles up next to Tanev (who we probably keep for the season).

Gotta say that I'm beyond surprised (very pleasantly so) that it looks like he might actually play this year. I was basically thinking that he was almost certainly done as a Flame if not done as an NHL'er. Happy for him that it may not be the case.

This is very good and unexpected news. I like Kylington and I wish him the best with however this goes. I also hope he and his agent will acknowledge and respect how professional and compassionate the Flames have been through all this.

I will still say this news today, combined with the Zadorov trade yesterday, makes me pretty sad we never saw that full top 6 ever play together.

Hanifin - Weegar
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Andersson

I still think some variation of that d-core would have been elite, maybe even the best d-core in the league, and they didn't play a single game together even though that was the plan coming into each of the last two seasons.

It'd be great if Kylington spent the past year getting Blood Transfusions from Nik Lidstrom thus turning him into the Ultimate NHL Defenceman/Terminator.

Nobody would see it coming.

I had accepted the fact Kylington would not return, as part of some "Homer at Bat" series of unfortunate events that befell our once sure-thing d prospect group. This is great news for Kylington and potentially found money for the organization. Love it.

The guy has been gone with zero news or updates.
The moment Z is gone he is skating again. Could just be a coincidence of course.

I am purely speculating but it is not unusual for some
Players to strongly dislike each other, and of all ayers I think Z was the most likely to say whatever he thought or felt.

It does not seem like an insane leap to me.

EDIT: the risk of other gm’s seeing him skating and lowering trade value for us also makes a ton of sense. I very good point.

It doesn't make any sense to me. If Zadorov was such a problem that a teammate would go on leave for a season and a half, he'd have been moved at last year's deadline or in the offseason or even early last year.

Zadorov may not have been popular in the locker room for his outspokenness but the team would have acted much sooner if he was such an acute issue.

this is amazing news - no matter when/if he's back in Flames lineup - just great to see he seems to be in a good place. Pulling for Oliver, who I affectionately refer to as Klingon (KyLINGtON), for trek fans...
