Every time we play the stars I ask myself the same question... How did Jason Robertson get 109 points last year? He's fine but baffling to me he gets so many points.
He is good, but man was he quiet tonight. He won't top that total ever again.
I have no problem with reviews in sports. We have the tech to utilize so may as well use it. I do have a problem with how the reviews come about in the NHL. In the MLB you have 15 seconds to make a choice. In the NFL you have to throw the challenge flag before the next snap. Apparently in the NHL you can call everyone you like down to the bench, bring the refs over, and have a conference about whether to challenge or not. May as well kick your feet up and offer the refs a cup of coffee while you're at it. Absolutely bogus. And then the icing on the cake is have the league call in after the benches cleared and the fans were packing up asking for a challenge. Like what the actual hell NHL?!?
lol it actually looked like DeBoer was asking the ref what the rule was in order to challenge
I’ve been beating the “eliminate all video review under all circumstances” drum for a while. If that’s not exhibit A as to why, I don’t know what is.
Video review should only ever be used to determine if the puck crossed the line. That’s it.
Can’t even get excited about a goal anymore because what if your team went offside 30 seconds ago?
Brutal stuff. Ruins the entertainment value. Integrity of the game be damned, we got along just fine without it for years.
Totally agree. What’s the point of even having ice level refs making judgement calls? I’d rather have a few mistakes that go either way and even themselves out rather than have 30% of goals being combed over the last minute of tape to find some stupid rule of something that had no effect on the play.
Missed stoppage of play reviews need to have a statute of limitations... Basically, if the missed stop happened like 20 seconds or more before the goal, it is no longer reviewable. It should only be reviewable if it just happened. Something happening 40 seconds ago is on the defending team to clean up in that time...

They took one away on the first flames goal, Coleman got a piece of the puck.
They also took one away on the backlund tip. Technically should’ve had 4 assists.
I wouldn’t say it was a quiet night for him, thought he made a lot of good plays on both sides of the puck tonight.

I wouldn't go that far.
Coach's challenge has to be immediate. Throw a flag onto the ice before the start of the next play.
No reviews from Toronto except as part of the challenge. This Deus Ex Machina stuff has got to stop.

20 seconds is very generous. I was going to say 8 to 10 seconds.
Weegar has as many goals as Johnny and Tkachuk. Combined….
Ok, but one of those three players played two months longer than the other two last season, and then spent the entire offseason recovering from a broken sternum... and also has 7 more points than each of the other two.
