I wish we traded for Bratt when him and NJ were at odds.

Goalies are impossible to scout. But certainly it does seem odd to pick a 3rd string tendy from the Q who only won a third of his starts (granted on a crappy team where he got peppered for an average 36 shots per 60) when theres a guy at the same height with way better stats (granted only facing 27.5 shots per 60) playing as a starter in his freshman year...

Both were projected second round picks, I assume mostly because McDonald had a stellar performance at the U-18's.

Regarding the VAN goal...

No, it was not a really fast pass, it was a good pass, like any other good pass.

It wasn't that Markstrom didn't have time to react, it is that he didn't SEE the pass. He was screened and didn't see the person make a pass. He never located the puck until after it was in the net.

Funny how the great future goalie talents are usually available so deep into the draft. With so many cup hopefuls being frustrated with their goalies, you'd think more teams would prioritize it at the draft.

Edmonton has failed the hardest at this. When you already have McDavid and Draisaitl up front wtf are you doing picking wingers in the back half of the first round?

Wallstedt was right there for the taking. Thank #### they're dumb.

Hanifin was there! He didn't check the Canucks player nor did he try to deflect the puck.

Not the first time the Kings have scouted us recently?

Yes, Hanifin played it very poorly. And that didn't help.

But saying the pass was too fast for Markstrom to react is ridiculous. He didn't move because he didn't see the pass.

That draft was horrific all around. The next pick they drafted a forward who had one point in 30 games in his first draft year. The next pick was Brandon Montour. Somehow the Flames found a way to avoid drafting a local kid who was 11th in WHL scoring in his draft year on a team where the second leading scorer finished 36 points behind him.

Yeah that was more it. It was on Petterson’s stick before he had time to move

And this is why the Royal Road is royal. A goalie can sometimes stop what he can't see… but not if he has to move to do it.

Pospisil has been just as impressive as Zary (if not a touch more).

So tenacious. He got underneath the Canuck to cleanly steal the puck without risking the penalty call.
