Entertaining game generally if you ignore the bumbling, fumbling first period (some by both teams).

Flames had oppos to win; didn't bury them. C'est la vie.

Thought Hanifin and Rasmus were awful tonight. Lindy looked (mostly) uninterested and Kadri is coming alive.

The kids are alright!

I didn’t fault Huberdeau for that pass.

Yup. Lindholm should expect that pass and if he does, it’s a tap in.

Lindholm would have missed the rebound too

I thought the team played better as the game wore on. Vladar looked good towards the end especially. Huberdeau had a bit more 'oomph' in his game tonight I thought. I was looking to see a response of sorts. He did have moments where he at least looked like an impact player, though it is still not there.

At any rate, wish we won this game. Got a point for coming back in it, which is nice to see. Last year and the start of this season, trailing by one goal seemed like such an insurmountable number. Resiliency is always nice to see in a team's culture. That 2013-14 Flames team built that up that season, and they believed in themselves enough to continue finding ways to comeback in games and make the playoffs that year. Plus, it is way more entertaining when you don't always know the outcome of a game if the other team scores on your team at some point.

Oh.. and Giordano can go suck an egg. Seems like he goes out of his way to prove that he isn't a Calgary Flame any longer by turning into a meathead. Next game I would like someone to take a run at him.

We would probably like them better if the Flames weren’t historically terrible at them. Since the inception of the shootout, the only teams that have less shootout wins are expansion teams (Knight and Kraken).

Dead wrong, man. That's a tap in pass and played perfectly in that scenario. It didn't work, but it was the right play.

yeah I don't like them in non Flames games either
its like playing horse to decide a basketball game

heck play 2 on 2 before a shootout

3 on 3 was awesome, then we get a coin flip

also the rules are kinda iffy...puck must continue in a forward motion, unless it doesn't whatever

You know, when the Chucky debacle was going down and I thought St.Louis was in the mix I asked a relative whos a scout if he thought we could pry Thomas away in a package? he replied "maybe but you might already have one in Zary"

I kind of laughed it off but damn these scouts are like a Nostradamus, I'm seeing a similar game now, he's a way better skater than I thought, very smart and he loves to have the puck. doubt he ever see's the AHL again.

Zary was great. Hope he improves his speed and strength. He is our future 2nd line C for sure.

I can’t believe the luck of the Leafs in the shootout and incompetence of the refs that worked against the Flames this morning. I want to kick everything.

With the way I feel after that, I’m definitely not on board the tank train.

Agree. I think they’re like fights - exciting to watch, but the game’s better off without them (and no, I don’t want to get into a discussion of hockey fights).

Agreed.

Incredible fortune for a team that earns none. Between a no goal determination and phantom penalty on a clean goal and being able to have extra skaters on in OT where the extra guy plays the puck without being called is something else.

Then of course the game is over until Marner recovers a puck fumble and turns it into an unlikely deke. Have to give him credit, but jesus ####. This team can't buy a break in that barn.

Lindholm fanned on about 3 grade a chances. That was a tap in.

Maybe the league needs to institute some sort of challenge rule on this type of play. The whole ref was in process of blowing the whistle is a lame excuse for the ref not seeing something and nobody else wanting to overrule them.

If the other ref, or linesmen saw the puck loose they should be able to inform the ref that it was loose and they should look to see if it is legitimate. They seem to review stupid stuff like offside 20 seconds before a goal or mystery highsticks (which you can't see from 99% of the reviews on them).

The ref losing sight of the puck and calling the play dead happens regularly; it sucks that it happened against the Flames this time.

The real problem is that Kadri got a penalty for digging after the puck which he did the tiniest of a fraction of a second after the whistle blew. Not only did he not slash anyone it happened a mere moment after the play was called dead.

Have to (delightfully) laugh at Zary's goal. If you add up the speed of his initial shot and the speed of the rebounded shot that went in, the total may have come in around 60mph.
