The timing is definitely strange. Wranglers play 3 back-to-back games tonight through Saturday, with Friday and Saturday in California, so I imagine Wolf misses all 3 games. And unless he leaves mid-trip, likely misses games next week too (Tues & Wed at home).
Really, other than Markstrom nursing an injury or a potential trade of Vladar or Markstrom management is confident will materialize, I can't see why they do this.

lol. so what is the actual outcome? Are you actually saying Markstrom has been good the past 2 years? that he actually hasn't sucked against the Oilers??
I'll take some of the paste you've been eating!
When you are no good against the No Goods you don't deserve to be our starting goalie.

I think Conroy wants to advertise Vladar or Tre wanted to see him before a deal. May be Vladar and Zadorov or Tanev traded?

Cap. Don't want Samsonov or Klingberg, but both are expiring.

It could be that they're just being cautious with whatever ailment Markstrom has and some uncertainty about how quickly he will recover from it. A question could be, though, since you now have Wolf on the roster, do you give him a game on the road trip?

if Wolf takes over the net the season is saved, but the rebuild will be delayed greatly. Mark my words.

If Markstrom is not 100%, he shouldn't play. He's not good enough where him at 90% is better than Vladar or Wolf at 100%.
So if Marky is even a little banged up, he should rest in the pressbox and Vladar should play against Toronto and Wolf against the Senators.

That is both a pretty bad trade and puts the Flames way above the salary cap. They would be moving out 6.325 million in salary and would be bringing in 7.7 million.
But Klingberg and Samsonov have zero value, you would not even be able to trade them. And it would jam you on other trades because you would not be able to bring in any other contracts to make those deals work.

I'd pump the brakes a bit. I have high hopes for Wolf, but I've noticed he gets beat a lot up high, which makes sense as he doesn't have the size to cover those areas.
He can get away with it in the AHL, but in the NHL, even plugs like Coleman can go top corner.
I'm excited to see Wolf, but going to temper my expectations a bit.

He might end up like other small goalies like Saros and Shesterkin.

Flames should ensure retention spots are open for Lindholm and Hanifin trades and not use 2 in the same deal on their lesser D pieces.

Conroy is so much better than the previous regime on prospects it's a miracle.
To me it's weird how this fanbase talks itself into positions where having Wolf up is actually bad, because he might be good. "We actually want to lose and he might win which screws up our plans" mentality. The thing is a rebuild is something that happens against your will. If the prospects you have can make you not bad, every org in the league would take that.
