So we can anchor ourselves to another terrible 8 year deal?

Where is this rumour coming from ? Inside intel or talking heads on tv?

I'm torn. I love watching Johnny as a player and his teammates all really seemed to like him here. He's such a good fit.
But...Huby seems like a really great person. I know I make a lot of team mom jokes. And he might really not be gelling in calgary. And he looks absolutely terrible out there most nights. And he doesn't seem to fit the system. But I really want it to work with Huby.
I'd rather trade Kadri for Johnny tbh

Only if Johnny can keep it in his pants.
Which of course he will not.

If there's an appetite from the gaudreaus to return, I'd see the biggest obstacles then being Huberdeau green lighting a move to Columbus (we'd have to pray he's reeally not enjoyed his time here, which it appears he hasn't), but more importantly Murray not blocking it out of feeling spurned from before.

Johnny's friends are here. Lindholm is not happy. Raz and he are good friends. Maybe Hubby isn't happy here either. I bet Murray might have some reconsiderations considering how the new guys have played.

This SO SO SO reaks of a Calgary move . And Connie knows exactly what it feels like to get that love in , love fest And opportunities for a rekindling but.....
HELL NO!!! Jeez ...while were at it let's bring back Monny and .....yep NOPE!!!
I don't know that we could have won it all with #13 and all the bounces and right calls anyway . I really don't.
We gotta move on, detach from silliness . I wouldn't take Tkachuk back either just based on the way he did everything " this is how the Tkachuks do things" mantra . Yeah ....go pee up a rope buddy and let the doorknob hit you square when you leave.
Bad idea .

Hell, I'd trade him 1 for 1 for Kadri, even if that meant eating another $2.5M in salary, and leaving us one less centre.

Flames fans gotta let Gaudreau go.
Columbus is actually a really nice city.

Post lockout I can think of a few flames who had multiple stints with the team.

Wouldn’t take tkachuk back? That’s nuts. We are going to be searching for the next decade to try and replace what he brings. These people are not your friends , they are hockey players doing a job.

And the thing in common with all of them is the second stint was markedly worse than the first.

They just built a house for their newborn and now are expecting again. There is no way Meredith will uproot after nesting so deeply in Columbus. Murray Edwards is also not reneging on that burnt bridge and taking him back after what reportedly went down. It's simply not happening no matter how much fans might want it.

“Nesting so deeply” my man she moved there a year ago.
There is obviously some way, that way being that he gets traded.
It’s not going to be any harder to uproot now than in would be in 2026.

I would absolutely do that trade every time. Even if they both continued to suck I would rather be paying Johnny something for what he did for the franchise for 8 years. Rather than some dude who's agent complained and began the downfall of the only man who has done something for this franchise in the last 30 years.

I'd do it, as I've not accepted that this team will be an awful tanking team for 2 more years. Johnny was at least entertaining, even when he wasn't producing. His edge work was great for a few Globetrotter moments, even if he can't score anymore.

People talking about Huberdeau committing to Calgary... have you seen the way his contract is structured? It's even buyout protected. Not an exact number, but it's something like 90% signing bonus and 10% salary.
He didn't commit to Calgary, he committed to a contract that guarantees him 10.5M for the next 8 years. Except for maybe some kind of egregious off-ice incident, there's no getting out of it.
Sure it also has a full no move, but that doesn't mean he can't be moved - just that he controls where he can be moved to. At the end of the day, I don't think he cares where he plays. He's getting his full 10.5x8 no matter what.

False
Jokinen was much better in his second stint. The rest I agree but I don’t think anyone would be thinking Johnny would be a 115pt player when he came back.
Outside of Leopold I think Flames fans very much enjoyed getting each of those players back
