Calgary was the better team, but the Capitals got the breaks. If they keep playing like that they will be competitive all year.

The Caps barely survived the first half of the game, but they had some pushback and got a couple of important goals.

Overall, that was fun. I still don't like the Huberdeau-Lindholm-Mangiapane line.

I do like the Greer-Sharangovich-Duehr line though and Ruzicka was awesome for most of the game. The Coleman-Backlund-Coronato line looks promising too.

Keep it rolling and come back from the trip with at least 6 points and it will be a good start to the year.

I feel like we have to have one of the worst shootout records since its inception so I had to verify.

5th worst in the league at 56-72. Honestly, I thought it’d be worse.

How hard is it to see that forcing redemption arcs on players who are being selfish and ####ing your team is probably not going to pay off.
Who do they have for shootouts? The 10.5 million dollar man makes sense and he didn't even hit a post like the other two

That’s how the GM was picked too lol

Needed to save money. That usually works out.

Definitely not Kadri.
Okay, but he hit the post. It wasn't a terrible choice or attempt.

If you want to blame anyone for a poor attempt tonight I'd look towards Coleman's penalty shot. Could have won the game in regulation but it was a really weak effort.

Story #1: Philips, lol.
Story #2: Two times the shots for two thirds of the goals.
Story #3: $18M in the shootout = 0 goals.

New coach, new GM, new 4th line... yet the stories are all the same.

Lack of top tier skill is so evident, also what happened to that team that played in the 1st. Play 60 with that pace and its a W more often than not.

Man they are 1-1-1 and outside of Kadri most of the team played a good game tonight ...with all the overreactions in here you'd think they were 0-3-0 and had been outscored 15-3.

Too early to say the coach and any of the new players are failures yet

Pretty universal knowledge that shooting isn't Huby's thing unless he's having a rare night where he looks like he can shoot it. Did Huby look like he had it going on tonight?

And obviously Kadri..

Am fine with giving the newcomer with his reputation a try and he nearly had it.

Even lottery teams have good periods. The difference is made across 60 minutes, which the Flames have not been good at in a loooong time.

That's probably what I would have done too. They are trying to sign Lindholm and they put Kadri in. Little stuff matters.

Which player do you draft and why?
Neither. The night before the draft it donnes on me I am the GM of the Calgary Flames and what that actually means in terms of possible success and I use Dr Kevorkian's home suicide machine.

for a while there, we could run Tkachuk and a healthy Monahan and it was pretty guaranteed that one of them would score. If you remove this period, Flames could be worst

Markstrom made some great saves today, but that second goal was problematic.

Brightest upside to the season has been Markstrom thus far. Which could mean a longer wait to see Wolf play.
Truth is, the flames play hockey well and should've buried both the Caps and Pens early in both games, sadly they lack natural goal scorers (maybe as badly as any team in the league). Could be a long season of very close games once again if we can't find some scoring.

I'm little upset because Washington is bad team and this this team couldn't get win.
And there is no show from highest paid players except Markstrom.
