It's hard for a bunch of young kids to play against professional hockey players and the Canuck team has more professional hockey players.
In other words, the Canucks are full of guys who are well on their way to solid careers... outside of the NHL. Many of them have NHL upside, but realistically it's 7th d, journeyman type NHL upside. Raty, McWard and McDonagh have played NHL games, Hirose will probably be on the NHL roster this season. But the Canucks would trade literally any player on their roster for several guys on the Flames'.
