I don't know if I really trust Babcock at all, but the statement is believable. Plus, Bissonnette is also a known dork who isn't particularly reliable about anything. But that puts me in the unenviable position of having to defend Mike Babcock, and I'm not particularly inclined to.

My solution is I'm going to be vaguely mad about this whole situation until I gradually forget it ever happened.

Sounds like a cover up. Someone surely told Biz the whole story and he would never overexaggerate anything.

I'll lower the pitchfork, but it feels like damage control and the player agreeing that they should try and concentrate on the season. I expect Babs was told to pack it in too.

But none of this should have happened. This leaked for a reason IMO

Hes doubling down saying more players have confirmed he did this.

Does he have a axe to grind with him?

Hahaha, now people are twisting themselves into pretzels to justify their earlier posts. I jumped to conclusions and I was wrong based on Jenner's statement. Nothing wrong with admitting you were wrong people.

On the other hand if Babcock asked players to show me some things you did over this summer from your phone photos so I get an idea of who you are as a person I could totally see a guy like Biz warping that into something it isn't. So ya, I will wait for the whole story to come out before lighting the torches.
Babcock doesn't need to be looking for lewd pics to make this a complete nonsense request that is an invasion of privacy even most people don't ask their romantic partners for. It's completely out of line regardless of the reason for the request. No employer has the right to ask for your personal cell phone.

Bluejackets come out saying it was about families and Jenner was "disappointed".

Seems like spin. Ya. Disappointed that your name is central to this ####storm. But who would have been 100% fine with this? "I asked them to share, off their phones, family pictures" at its BEST is still not a reasonable nor normal request when getting to know someone. The fact some players came forward says a lot.

Why? And how did it blow up in their face? They were told by players who wanted this to get out. Commodore had the same info and was going to do the same?

No twist into pretzel required, the statement is clearly PR damage control and to me confirming the original allegations more than anything. yeah for sure he just wanted to see some family pics. that clears everything up (?) and is totally normal(?)

I'm not sure how one player saying their experience with the phone request was fine negates other's not being comfortable with the experience.

If you're asked to airplay your photos to someone's TV, your family photos aren't going to be the only thing that shows up.

Its totally normal on the first day on the job to go into the managers office and have him/her ask you to bring out your phone and share family pictures.

Are you married?

Yes

With kids?

Yes

Go grab your phone and show me pictures.

In a story full of #######s, on the surface I'm more inclined to believe Jenner and that some disgruntled players and an attention whore are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Spitting Chiclets is the personification of toxic hockey culture.

I'll wait to see how the investigation goes.

Aren't they trying to call out toxic hockey culture? And now they are being ridiculed for it?

It's not a podcast I listen to. I get that people don't like the dudebro hockey players, but this stuff likely doesn't even get out without them.

I think the message is clear to Babs... any mind games he plays will be put on blast by the media.

Well, lots of stuff has come out without the aid of this particular podcast.

They generally have some pretty good interviews, but if you spend any amount of time just listening to them shoot the #### it sounds like you planted a wire in an early 2000s frat house.

I'm ridiculing them for perpetuating toxic hockey culture with their general behaviour on their podcast. Glass houses type thing.

And nothing stops #######s from calling out other #######s.

wtf are you talking about?

How is SC toxic hockey culture? Do they swear, drink and talk about girls? yes. Does that cause players to be racist and sexually harass people? How about we hold people to account for their own actions vs blaming spittin chiclets.

There's clearly some truth to the phone photo thing but Jenner is the team captain and I can't see him telling players the spittin chiclets version only to do a 180 as it would kind of make him look like a phony in the locker room. Maybe there were rumours that he previously did that and Jenner simply said he did show him some family photos from his phone and the story took on a life of its own.
