Wow, didn't realize the deal was back loaded.
Confidence? or Irrational Confidence?

I would absolutely take a chance on him and bring him to Calgary.

Massive bet to place on oneself. Love to see it and hope it works out for him. I don't know if we are going to be super attractive to him as he's clearly going to look for an ideal situation to pop, but I do hope we pursue it.

Zadina has never been short on confidence.
When he was drafted commenting on teams that passed on him:
“I was telling my agent, if they will pass on me, I’m going to fill their nets with pucks,” the newly-drafted Zadina said, via Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press. “I want to prove to Detroit that they make a pretty good decision.”

He reminds me a lot of Nikita Filatov. Tremendously skilled + supremely confident but unable to deliver.

Holland drafted him correct? I wonder if he goes to Edmonton?

Absolutely last thing they need but you are probably right.

Well, that didn't age well. 28 NHL goals in 190 games. His picture on Hockeydb exudes confidence (or maybe dickishness).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

For people who pay attention to the Wings, could this be another Bennett situation where he just got buried, but could thrive if he gets put in the right position?

Less that he was buried.
But similar to Bennett in that pucks just don't seem to want to go in the net when he's on the ice. Which was similar to Bennett here.
Good underlying numbers at times, good playdriving, but not resulting in goals.
He hasn't exactly played good linemates either, which hurts the on ice finishing too.
Worth taking a shot on for sure IMO.

In the middle of last season, I remember an article talking about Zadina and his usage by the coach. He was on a line where he was the biggest and fastest guy, so his role was to work the boards on a dump and chase. This is zero percent of the skillset that he was drafted for.
I see him actually as a pretty good bounceback candidate if he is put on a team that already has higher end grinders, and he can get back to his game. The question is whether after three years of not playing to his strengths, if his development has been ruined.
Screams Nashville to me.

Not a bad risk for a team to take that is trying to get younger and hit on some guys in the 23-25 year old space. Probably is not signing more than a 1-2 year deal so a fairly low risk gamble.m
If a team had virtually no right wingers he could be a good guy to try in your top 9, especially if you were decent down the middle and on LW.

Certainly sounds like Zzdina is worth a 'show me' contract from the Flames, could be a good fit if we are trying to get younger and faster.

Get Jiri Hudler on the phone with him and convince him Calgary is a great place for a young Czech man to play

I think it's assumed he already knows what's in store for him.
