Lundell and Duclair for Hanifin and Ruzicka would be a deal I could get behind. If Backlund and Lindholm are traded Lundell would likely get an opportunity to center in the top 6. Is that a fair deal? If Florida is leaning toward Barkov-Bennett long term it would make sense for them to trade their 3rd line C for a top pair D who would look good with Ekblad long term.

I am also completely into a deal around the 13th pick + if Buffalo is in the mix.

So just ignore my reply and double down?

Having five assets (7) with value is a good thing ... Two great trades net three players that now have more value than arguably when they were acquired. A free agent signing that turned out great and now has value. And a draft pick, developed and now has value.

And as I said ... nobody saw a pandemic creating an escrow bulge that has them all not wanting to sign.

There is plenty to criticize Treliving on, but assembling assets that have them sitting on options isn't one of them.

I feel if the Flames do this correctly and maximize assets we may see a rebuild similar to what NJ is doing in a few years

Isn't this something that Conroy specifically said he'd like to avoid in the future? That is, having seven assets and then having said assets sitting on their options.

They're not super valuable options because the strike price is variable and largely tied to market price. Id actually suggest the UFAs aren't really valuable options at all as the only benefit is the 8th year.

Just because it's a mess (my point) doesn't mean it can't be cleaned up (By Conroy fingers crossed), I understand some want to dismiss any and all criticism but this amount of players all being UFA and all wanting out around the same time is unprecedented and I won't pretend it's not.

Yeah, at this point I can’t believe we haven’t even heard a smidge of teams sniffing around some of our players.

People act like they are patient enough for a rebuild but are already impatient that the Flames haven't made a move yet.

Whats the rush? Take the time and figure out the best returns. This is an important time.

Because the next two moves are going to really show which direction this team will be going.

Yeah I'm at peace with the fact that there have been no moves as opposed to bad moves. Conroy is a peacock and you gotta let him fly on this one.

The only impatience that I feel is that I don't trust the team to do what is necessary. If I trusted that the team was actually committed to the rebuild I would be fine to wait.

But there is certainly no reason to panic at this point.

Eh we don’t know what’s fully going on behind doors. I’m not gonna worry too much about it
