I think his age will allow him to relate to the players a lot more effectively. I also think that his time coaching some of our young players will help him; he seems well liked by Wranglers players, so they might be able to vouch for him/help translate his message to the rest of the team.

Sutter was a great coach, and I certainly don't want to suggest Love will be anything close to what Sutter was/is, but I think if he does get the job, he'll be good at a lot of things that Sutter was not great at (communicating, relating to young guys etc...).

It was mentioned there may be interest from around the NHL. I dont disagree with the idea of grooming Love but maybe he gets an offer elsewhere?

If the organization is going to recommend the new GM take a long look it would make the hire as safe as possible for the incoming GM as he wouldn’t exactly be sticking his neck out by hiring Love.

I think he means it's just too much of your posting style in general, especially as a high volume poster like you are? It gets good reviews from a segment of the board because you're always on the "positive" side of mocking posters and constantly hammering the same schtick posting. "Blah blah blah.. OMG of course the negative posters will say THISSSS!!!!!".

It's just repetitive and tiring to read when there's some great posters, giving great analysis and opinions on the Flames, both positive and negative.

That's just it. JiriHrdina hates it too, when posters do the whole "CP thinks this!!!!" all the time. It's melodramatic and unnecessary. It's a board with hundreds of active posters, just respond to posts, don't make it about you and your broad proclamations that just add negativity and division.

My first post was a joke about how fast people turn on coaches. Next time I'll make sure to run it past you and the rest of Post-Police first to verify if I'm allowed to post it. Thank you for the valuable input about what I'm allowed to do.

People are going to do what they are going to do. Predicting fan behaviour isn't exactly rocket science. If the new coach has immediate success and the team rolls, almost everyone will be happy. If the team struggles out of the gates some fans may be critical of coaching decisions while some will preach patience. That's just the way it's going to be so why let it bother you? Let's just see what happens and go from there rather than call out fans for how they may behave before the new coach is even hired.

Not to get to meta or anything, but if we’re talking about the habits of others… man do you love inserting yourself in conversations with these off-topic character takedowns of people hours after the fact.

The moment passed, the issue was addressed. You don’t always need to swing by in the middle of the night and bring the topic back to how #### someone is (saying this as someone who has been both a subject and an enjoyer of these posts). At least keep it in the moment, man. The posters went back and forth, they moved on, they don’t need to wake up the next day to hear what jayswin’s opinion on it is.

I'm sure he is, in his 2 years he's been fortunate to have Dustin Wolf with a .927 career save percentage. If you want the coach and miss the second part of that equation of the elite goaltending it's like buying a Michelin star restaurant and staffing it with Chefs from Chilis.

Flames have to #### or get off the pot.

I think there would be enough interest around the league that if the plan is to make him only an assistant coach, it could backfire on the Flames.

Right, and the franchise that eats coaches for lunch is the best place for that.

Bring him in - but if anyone is expecting him to get this group over the hump next season, they should re-asses and consider that it might happen, but it shouldn't be a requirement.

This hire needs to be a long term hire if this franchise is going to get itself back into the upper echelon of franchises in the NHL. Constantly flipping the switch between players coach and hard a$$ needs to stop for everyone's sake. Find a quality mind and person and let them have an honest go of it.

Dallas Eakins had "a lot of interest" too around the league when he was in Toronto as Marlies coach. A few teams were keen on having him as an assistant (Vancouver close to hiring him), but the Lowe (once again) wanted to be the bold pioneer in the league and swooped in, fired Kruger over Skype so he could land Eakins.

Point being there likely is interest around Love but maybe not for head coaching roles as is assumed. Huska was no slouch either to get the call up and there was interest around the league with him too at the time, but no idea now.

Yes, that is true, Kruger's dismissal was a mistake. But who knows, probably Mitch Love is next the League star? Anyway I think Flames again needs to be rebuilded, why not try Mitch? What might Flames loose?
