No, it's just "process" and 2 year plans.
I agree that Wolf should see a Calder cup run, but that better be the last thing AHL that he sees because he is WAY beyond the AHL at this point and it's just a plateau in his development at this point.
They also should've tried him up here when things were bleak in net. When its evident you have elite talent, you can deviate from stupid development plans.
Like what was the end goal here? Flames + playoffs. Wolf could've helped you there, and you could've got his Calder run in all the same at the end of the day.
The organization is a little too married to its stupid processes sometimes. You could argue that they need to be less afraid to cross their own lines for the sake of trying to win.
What do they say? If you aren't cheating, you're not trying hard enough.
Oilers have demonstrated that recently with their hiring the guy accused of abuse that no other team would touch with a ten foot pole and coaxing players into early retirement.
Sadly, their foregoing of a moral compass is paying off for them.
The very least the Flames could do is take a risk on the goalie when theirs were obviously broken.
Instead they ride or die through their slumps, and now are faced with potentially another wasted season with some of their best players on the verge of going elsewhere.
God dammit, this team.

I would but I don't think it's in the cards. I think it's pathetic that Kadri (and/or Huberdeau) have already quit on the coach but you can't move the players so the coach has to go. Can't see how you can bring him back next year.

Honestly the PP hasn't gotten enough criticism.

My favourite part of the PP is when there is still almost a minute left and Sutter sends the 4th line over the boards.

Based on the GDT, I'm guessing the GT will be a train wreck.

But sorry ... I always see the game in three facets; 5 on 5 where you look at both sides in goals, the powerplay and PK in terms of comparing efficiency.
Goals for and against in all situations gums things up.

Not angry, just annoyed and confused by the post because it makes discussion about the numbers hard if you aren't clear. It made more sense as soon as Super Matt clarified on your behalf, but you did leave it hanging out there. I was actually just being a little tongue in cheek with those comments, but as always, sarcastic humor doesn't translate well over the internet.
You do tend to read anger into anyone's post that disagrees with or corrects you. Just something I've noticed over time.

I try to not be pissy with anyone that isn't pissy with me first ... and for sure not a fan of those that start out pissy.
So no I think I'm fine being disagreed with, happens all the time. Keep it civil and I'll be fine.
And sorry to annoy you ... already apologized for not being clear.

Pressure makes diamonds. If he's not a diamond, I don't want him playing goal for my team.
Any dispute would come from a millennial.

There are only two goalies who are 21 or younger who have played more than 10 games this season. Spencer Knight FLA ( 58th in games played) and Mads Søgaard OTT ( 70th in Games played). Net minding in the NHL under the Age of 23 is rare. I am not saying that Wolf couldn't do it, but the Flames are being very conventional letting him play a lot of AHL hockey first.

I don't want to detail the thread too much, but I often wonder if people who weaponize 'millennial' like this realize that some millennials are over 40. We're all firmly adults.

No kidding, The youngest mellennials are girzzled vets in the NHL by now.

Backlund is a median aged millennial.
Backlund is awesome.
I think when you guys take aim at millennials you're actually meaning the generation that succeeds them.
It's time we learn to differentiate between the two.

Yes exactly. If I've learned anything from my 3 decades of Flames fandom, it's that a new head coach will solve the problems with the team!

At this point I think Sutter knows our PP sucks so he's trying to rest our top players by getting Lucic on the ice for the final 30ish seconds.
It's the only reason I can think of.

And the original comment is way overstated.
Trevor Lewis, for example is averaging 10 seconds of powerplay time per game on the season.

You're right that it's overstated but that is still 10 seconds too much.
Lewis should be seeing 0 seconds of PP all season. Under no circumstances, on no planet, is he your best option on a PP.
The PP has not lived up to expectations, and there are multiple factors going on, starting with having a strategy designed where a puck-moving Dman refuses to shoot and overuses the side pass, to including lack of creativity and movement, to refusal to adapt to various PK counters, to not using Huberdeau when they should...
like... it's a mess.

I think if you put that line out with 20 or more seconds left it's a wasted opportunity.
Less than 15-20 it's just using the most rested intact line available.

Better way to put it is that Lewis has seen at least 20 seconds of PP time in 15 games and 30 seconds in 7 games.

How so? You'd still have another full line (3rd line) available and rested at the end of a PP wouldn't you?

Well except going from 8.9% to 9.9 % is a 10% improvement as is +30 goals on ~280 shots. No mystery, but it shows how awful 8.9% is.
