Flames will probably have to win out in order to make the playoffs. Meaning they will have beaten Nashville. Once that happens they can’t catch us.

You’re missing the point. Calgary doesn’t have destiny to get ahead and stay ahead of Winnipeg. They do against Nashville.
It’s really not a riddle.
Of course the game on Monday is gonna be a tough one. That’s not been something I’m trying to debate.

High shot volume doesn't seem to translate into wins in today's NHL...

ok well according to sportsclub stats the Flames odds of getting in would have gone up by 2% had the Preds lost. Theyv'e gone down 2% with the Nashville win, instead.
I get thats not a lot. But honestly, the logic is pretty straightforward.

Was never actively cheering for a Preds win. Like I said in my first post, the Preds win just wasn’t overly concerning.
Not a ton changed with that result for what the Flames need to do or hope for.
Winnipeg is the far greater concern.

It’s a dollar in, ten dollars out. You’re overthinking it.

I doubt those odds take into consideration that the odds of the Preds beating the Jets also went up, which would be huge for the Flames' playoff chances

This is the kind of logic gambling addicts use. One games result has nothing to do with the next. Need an example? The Jets abusing New Jersey and then losing to Calgary.. who the night before lost to Chicago.

Teams having something to play for usually matters a lot, except when it's Calgary.

Nashville will still have something to play for if they lost tonight when they play Winnipeg. Maybe even more so, more desperate.

Weren't their odds already in the single digits before the game? A loss tonight would have likely been the dagger.

The Kraken look like they will clinch, 4-1 lead.

The game was great goaltending vs. terrible
Sens had some really good looks
High danger chances were 18-3 Sens and they lost 7-2...I don't even think the Flames have had that bad a beat

The off season Sens Wild Talbot for Gustavsson trade sure set both teams on opposite trajectories this season.

Boston just needs to win 3 of their last 4 games for the all time points record. They have 3 games vs. teams already eliminated.

When Calgary loses to Vancouver on Saturday does that officially eliminate them?
Also would sadly all but eliminate any chance Canucks have for Bedard
