At least Karlsson does one thing very well. Nurse, not so much.

If the Sharks retain 4.5 to 5 then lots of teams will be interested

Thats, um, something.
I think Edmonton would have to throw in a couple of 1st round picks along with that collection of uh players before San Jose would even consider it.

I seriously doubt the sharks would retain 5/yr .. that kind of defeats the purpose of unloading him

you're probably looking at 2-3M max

I have no stinking clue how the Oilers clear up that much cap whilst already this far against it but I would be excited at the possibility of the package/assets, and the real possibility that tampering with their group midseason could backfire

Offensively at least, it ain't broke, so.....

They need a defensive D, not offensive D. They literally employ Tyson Barrie already

But go on and F it up with an overkill move, I welcome it

The Oilers owe the Sharks a favour big time.

Still makes sense for SJ considering what the return would. A retention of that amount would be a big cost.

2023 1st
2023 2nd
2024 1st
Poolparty
Barrie

That’s worth it to the Sharks in my eyes. With the strength of 2023, that’s the 1st round picks and a project in Poolparty.

Carrying a dead $5M for a trade that effectively “makes” your rebuild is worth it.

Hmm. Maybe, if the Oilers overpay to that extent

The hilarious thing is they're probably so sure of their team (beating up on bottom feeders) that they would conceivably push all their chips in on a move like this

They love their "big name" targets. Anything to drive more dopes in through the doors to puchase $50 burgers and $30 popcorn

Lets say Sharks eat 40% of Karlsson's contract. That is asking them to pay close to $18 million in salary for the above package.

That is a lot of real $ for some draft picks that are likely going to be in the bottom half of each round.

Has to be weighed against time.

Do the picks help get the Sharks back into a competitive spot years quicker due to that sort of trade?

Leafs retained $1.2M a year for 7 friggin seasons on Kessel and didn’t get a lot back in return (comparatively).

If they can get the 2026 pick though it’s a good chance it’s 1st OA.

Poolparty is worthless. A bust is not a project, he is worthless.

I would hope that carrying 5 million in dead cap and a dman who is on pace for a 108 point season is worth more than a 22nd overall pick, another 1st and a 2nd and Tyson Barrie.

The Leafs got 2 first round picks back and a former 2nd rounder and a 3rd line forward. You are proposing the Sharks more than quadruple the amount of salary they take on for 2 firsts, a 2nd, a borderline 3rd line forward and an offensive dman for a player who is on pace for 108 points this season.

I truly hope they get Karlsson- ties up more cap, and gives them another guy who doesn't have a clue how to play in his own zone. Good luck in the playoffs.

Sharks can't mess it up with Karlsson having a great year like this. They got a bucket of pucks for Brent Burns.

They re-signed Hertl...why? What a disaster.

Why on earth would Karlsson waive to go to Edmonton?, I doubt it's so he can be reunited with Kane
