They agreed to his demands in the final hour when he waited until the last minute to present it and walked from an agreement. How is this the Flames fault?

Gordie Howe Hat Trick for Pelletier -- A goal, an assist and then he beats the crap out of Gaudreau on the bantamweight card.

Different situations for sure, but even still, both players chose to leave in their primes. When talking about honouring former players I don't think there's much difference. They both told the team, city, and fans that they didn't want to be here. One method might have been more respectful, but the message was the same.
Don't want to be here? That's fine. I hold no ill will to either guy as human beings. But don't expect me to treat them like heroes when they return.

Just win. They blew the first game against CBJ and they CANNOT afford to do it again.
Glad to see Pelletier in the lineup again.
Pretty awesome, and hilarious, to see the CBJ players booing Johnny in preparation for the game tonight.

See where I stand on this is:
Gaudreau not only stayed here, he actually did stay here past his RFA years (at least one or two of the last couple seasons, were UFA years on his contract)
Tkachuk bailed before even playing out his RFA years.
To me the failure with Gaudreau wasn't his decision to leavue, but the failure to sign him to a longer deal initially.
Whereas with Tkachuk the failure was out of the hands of the organization during a period where he was supposed to be under team control.
The Flames screwed up with Gaudreau.
Tkachuk screwed the Flames, even if we got a "return" for him.

Imagine a top line of Gaudreau, Bedard and Laine next year.

Because it wasn't on paper. End of the day, Gaudreau did something he legally was allowed to do. Flames should've set a firmer deadline to ensure that they could get something out of him if he wasn't going to sign. Taking down to the last days is way too risky for teams to do because of this very result.

most teams have done it, most players end up staying...especially when they say they want to and you offer them the most money and have a better team.
I can't think of one player who left their first in the division team for a bottom feeder for less money

Bedard going to Columbus would be wasteful, since that team can't be trusted to build a team properly. would be like Edmonton & McDavid but in the east
I suppose it's way preferable to the Canucks getting a sniff though

They won't win the lottery!
but if they did, wouldn't it be nice to see Bedard pull a Eli Lindros.

It's not his fault. It's his wife's fault.
