I started viewing Oiler fans as members of a cult who have been brainwashed. They make a lot more sense when you have that perspective.

so in 33/35 years they have at most been able to win just half of their games
these guys sure sound like the poster boys for mediocrity to me. that's enormously sad.
with a stretch like that, how is it they think they have bragging rights over any team? lol
"delusional cult" is right

This is me too. From what I saw, they played a very good game overall. Islanders are a solid team that are missing a couple of key players, so it was good to capitalize on the situation.

Isn’t that the truth
By this time after a loss the PGT is at least a couple of dozen pages. Makes you wonder. Either there are a lot of “hot take” complainers or more closet Oiler fans on this board.

Powerplay is brutal and they're only getting goalie'd a touch.
26th powerplay
27th in goals / 60
21st in xgoals / 60
So partially the same finishing issue as five on five play, and likely the same issues that keep their high danger totals down .. not enough one on one skill.

They keeping trotting out the same unit and not trying new ideas and players. Andersson hasn't been very good on the PP it feels like they are forcing it. Why not try Weegar and Mangiapane or Dube and removed Kadri and Andersson.
Dube seems like the closest thing we have for someone who can carry the puck in with speed to get set up like 13 did.

Clearly the Oilers are playing for shot volume, likely with shots from centre ice. I'm just glad the Flames took Woodcroft's comments to heart and really worked on their shot quality last night. What an amazing coach, helping out other teams.
Go Flames.

I don't know what Millen was on about all night, I thought the Flames played a really solid game. The Islanders generated absolutely nothing, other than the 2 broken plays that resulted in the breakaways. And even one of those was just the fortunate timing of stepping out of the penalty box.
The Flames were the better team last night - by a fair margin - and deserve credit for that fact.
I liked Mangiapane's game last night, and Coleman is playing really well lately. Weegar was solid too.
