Another great scoring chance for Columbus and Laine. Do the Flames even have 1 scoring chance yet with their 2 pps and almost a full period against arguably one of the three worst teams in the league?

I am okay with this first period. We knew the Jackets would try and come out strong since their last loss and playing for Johnny this game. I actually expected more. I feel good going forward.

Zadorov really needs to be better on 2 on 1s.

I believe in the Jays.

Could we have Markstrom just never start another game for us? Like he can still play... but on his game days we let Vlader start and then swap out after the first stop.

Ya he is playing fine, can’t hold playing with Lucic against him. Lucic could use a few healthy scratch games.

Makes sense that he’d make a great 1980s style save when he’s sporting a GAA that would probably qualify him for a Vezina in the 80s.

Not a goaltending expert, so is that great technique because it covers more of the net, bad technique because you'd want him to keep his balance and stop it with his glove or torso, or good enough technique because it worked?

Even his pad stack had 14' of room between the two pads.

Win or lose, there's zero mojo this year with little excitement to watch. There was one game early (can't remember the opponent) where I thought they had it back, but nope. Zero chemistry, no nice plays, just dump and chase. Most boring team since the last time Sutter was here. Tkachuk would do the odd crazy move, Johnny would make a nice dangle, etc. Now it's just forecheck and backcheck, get a couple ugly goals and hold on. Not that it can't be effective, but it's boring

The biggest thing this team is missing is some emotion. There just is no intensity to this group.

That was a big save. That would have been a devastatingly deflating goal had it gone in. Those are the saves you're trying to buy when you spend $6M.
