I'm not sure the Flames have the cap space to bring up a whole line from the Wranglers and sit the current 4th line.

They don't, we should be bringing up one of the kids. But who is sitting. Kylington and jis 2 million plus cap hit is killing any type of move right now. Not sure how teams can LTIR guys so easily yet we cant seem to ever do it.

If we did call up Phillips, it has to be a top-2 line role. If we called him up and Sutter puts him onto checking line, that's just going to sabotage anything he might bring to the table.

I guess but it’s not really like our top 2 lines are even top 2 lines. Plus there’s lots of room to shuffle guys “down” the lineup. In fact, are there any forwards playing well? I guess Huberdeau has been looking a bit better. Toffoli has been… okay…… but ya pretty much all the rest have been brutal. Is Coleman even an NHL player right now? I bet Phillipsnis legitimately better than some / majority of these guys.
It’s crazy how much name pedigree buys some guys. If you watch the games, they aren’t that good. That 4th line last night was horrible, for example.
For example, if you sent down Coleman / Mangiapane / Dube / Kadri since game 10 / Lewis / Lucic / Rooney / Backlund since game 8-10, etc. would any of them lead the AHL in scoring? Highly, highly doubtful. Even Lindholm looks quite useless about 90% of the time.

I think we lack to end talent but do have decent depth. The fourth line sabotages both. I think we’re not going to get top end talent but we can roll four good lines and play high energy with good center depth if we bring up 2 forwards and push third liners down to fourth. A Dube/Coleman led fourth line would be a good 10 min a night line that would likely be good. We’re not getting anything like our top line last year but we could have four decent to good lines if we stop playing Lucic and Lewis/Ritchie.

At least Tre basically said this the other day on 960 - call ups need to be put into a role they can succeed in.
Of course what Tre says and what Sutter thinks/does is not necessarily the same.

Cap Friendly has Kylington on IR, not sure that's the case or not. Shows cap space of $1.7M.
I dont think cap space is an issue to call up 1 player from the Wranglers.
The Flames can't score (22nd in goals for), and the PP is cold as ice at 24th in the league.
Meanwhile, the Wranglers are currently 4th in goals for, and 3rd in PP%.
Is something else at play here? What could go wrong calling up a Phillips or Pelletier? I know if I were one of the leading scorers on the Wranglers I'd be wondering what the #### else do I need to do to get a shot.
Team is a mess right now, tough to watch for sure.

Yes a lot of those guys would dominate the AHL...it's a lesser league

Phillips is never getting called up. Even with a bunch of injuries. Sad but true.

Phillips himself has been called up and played a game under Sutter

He had one pro game. In a meaningless spot. Nothing to lose or gain really. This would be, or should be, entirely different. And he isn't going to get that opportunity.

The chart doesn't mention how important the game has to be...there also aren't many players listed under 5'11.
I would call him up too but this chart was created to get people fired up...it's not accurate. Some fans are easy marks to get Twitter outrage eyeballs
