I'll allow it. Moog and Fuhr were lousy goalies, but that was in the 80s when nearly all goalies were lousy.
Of course if those guys played today, they would have the benefit of modern techniques, coaching, and equipment. But Moog at 5'9" and Fuhr at 5'11" would be long shots even to make the NHL, let alone play for Stanley Cup winners.
Let Oiler fans pine for the 1980s. If I want to pine, I'll pine for the 1900s. That Harvey Pulford, now, he was a great defenceman… back when there was no forward passing and no rule against icing. He would strip the puck off you and golf it 200 feet, over and over again. Pulford didn't believe a defenceman should carry the puck up the ice; that was a newfangled fad and obviously wouldn't last.
The difference is, I'm kidding. I
know the game has changed since those days. Oiler fans never seem to get that.
