Yeah he was awful on the 4th line and got promoted up. Any team with Lucic in the top 6 is a lottery team.
It's not a long term spot for him but he played very well in a bigger role last night. That was the best the Flames have played with the lead all season and Lucic was certainly part of it in the third.
Sorry the Flames won and ruined your night

You are so right because I was spending my money to cheer on a loss.
The Flames can do no wrong Lucic is the next Pavelski in your eyes get real.
The team was on a 7game losing streak. over that time, Dube hasn't had a single point. Mangiapane had one point. The chemistry on the first two lines was spotty at best. I for one am ecstatic to see a shake-up of the lines, that's really just a continuation of what we saw in a big win yesterday.

I think Lucic is getting screwed over by the coaches putting him in spots where he really shouldn't be playing. He's not a top-six forward or anything close, but he's being over-deployed to his detriment.
Last night, he was completely over his head in the first two periods. Better in the third but I don't think he was responsible for Mangiapane looking better — the inverse. Think Mangiapane might have stood a better chance of getting on the board with a player like Toffoli on his line instead (not suggesting they should have actually taken Toffoli off his line).
Ultimately, I do think Lucic gets too much rope. He's the 12th-best forward on this roster but he gets thrown to the wolves against other top lines *far* too often. Against other fourth lines, he's not a huge issue, but he's significantly less useful than he was when he first joined the Flames. His offensive ability is almost completely gone.
The Lucic-Rooney-Ritchie line was utterly destroyed last night. I think it comes down mostly to both Rooney's lacklustre play and the puzzling choices by the coaches to put that line out against the Scheifele unit, a situation where they were just killed. I do have to give Darryl a lot of credit for taking Rooney out of the rotation in the third, though.

1. I don’t think anyone should read too much into Sutter quotes with the media. He loves trolling the media and it’s a fools errand to try and interpret what he says.
2. If anyone should be insulted, it’s Lindy. I thought it was pretty clear Sutter was implying Lindy’s buddies are gone and he needs to man up and start playing better with his new linemates instead of wishing his friends were back.

I don't think it's fair to say he only played well because of Mangiapane - in fact, that was Mangiapane's best period this year, so if anything, Lucic should be getting some praise.
I get that some people think he is useless because he can't score. But offense is not the only aspect of this game. He does a lot of good things, and there is plenty of reason why the coach trusts him.
I agree 100% that he shouldn't be playing 15 minutes a game, like he did last night, but for the season he is at 11 minutes. I would prefer 8-10 too, but the amount of complaining around here (not directed at you) for the ice time that the 4th line gets is over the top, IMO.

They tried to, but the PA objected. You can't make equipment mandatory unless the PA and league approve it.
Correct, but Burning Beard is also correct, because as Brian Burke said when he was here (probably not 100% correct word for word) "We can't force you to wear them, but we can decide to not play you."
If I'm not mistaken, I think the Flames were one of, if not the only NHL team that had 100% of their players wearing them. At least for a good while.
Wonder when that changed, as I thought that message had continued under Treliving.

I’ve been on this all season but I think Lucic needs to be platooned. He’s much better with games off. We all saw his starts to the season are pretty good and he tails off. Ritchie is the same way. I think they should play on and off.

When Darryl was asked about Ruzicka's play, he said that Lindy liked the player and that was important because he is the Flames best forward. That doesn't sound like an insult to me.
