Neighbors down the street put on a pretty sweet haunted house that drew in a lot of people. Normally have 30-50 kids, so it seems like we had a decent bump this year, as we left out a bowl with around 200 candies and it's mostly all gone.

Vast improvement from last year.
12 kids before I had to shut off the lights just before 7 because I had to go.
Up from 4 last year.

We ran out of candy last year with over 200 kids roughly, so we doubled the amount of candy we bought. Of course that meant that we barely got over 100 kids, so now I'm left with a ton of candy. I guess diabeetus is back on the menu

We were way down, usually 100, last year 150, this year 50. Wierdly did on the streets. Daughter got a homemade candy apple. We are letting her eat it hoping it’s filled with drugs and razor blades like the 80s

We had at least 100-120 in Spruce Cliff. Can’t say that we counted, but we started with two giant bowls of candy and ran completely out by 8:30. Seemed to come in waves.
When my son and I did the rounds in our neighborhood, it seemed like about every third house was handing out candy. Lots of people with lights off.
To make up for that, one family had a table out front and was giving hot cider with bourbon to the adults walking by—that was a very nice touch.

Traffic seemed very heavy tonight.
I'd say we had enough for 150, ran out ~7:00, store was sold out, picked up 20 chocolate bars, had another 20 kids in about 15 minutes of having the lights back on. Gave up.
Seem like the whole neighborhood ran out earlier than normal, and my kids haul seemed a little lighter than normal.
Great to see it so busy, kinda crappy so many were running out shortly after the first hour of action, including ourselves.

I saw one sole little kid trick or treating in central Paris. I felt sorry for him but admire his determination. I hope he got some bonbons.

I'm in Lethbridge a few blocks south of Henderson Lake. We normally get around 20 kids. This year we nearly tripled our total! 58 kids. I don't really know why.

As one of the trick or treaters parents my highlights were:
Very first house we hit offered me the little Bailey's single serving bottles for the parents. As a parent who wasn't expecting anything other than following my kid around tonight this kind of blew me away.
At one of the last houses we weren't sure if there was a light on at first but seemed sufficiently decorated so sent our 4 year old up. I stayed close enough to see it's Jason just sitting in a chair by dimly lit door. Little guy sees the dude and bravely says trick or treat a few times but Jason just sits there and finally points at candy bucket. I had to shout to take a candy he was so transfixed. Last year we encountered another house with a werewolf that completely stayed in character for our visit.
Kudos to the houses with full candy bars and those other houses that keep Halloween spooky. It has to be one of my favourite celebrations.

I feel bad for any kid that gets these caramels from Shoppers though, they're terrible. I'll save them for the teens that come late!

Are Kraft caramels still a thing? I wasnt able to find them here in Calgary. I got them in Houston last time I was there though.

Had around 70 show up in Lake Chaparral before we shut down for the night. Could have easily been around a couple dozen more if we had stayed open. Definitely a lot more than recent years.

Probably the tooth fairy lobby got them axed.

Yeah I totally thought this was going to end up being a Jason Kenney anecdote. Had me at the edge of my seat for a moment there.

I've never understood the hype for full chocolate bars on Halloween. I'm all about variety, I'd rather have 3 or 4 of the small ones of varying flavors than a single full bar

We had 64 kids tonight. They all came in 3 different big groups except 1 lone 13 year female( guessing age ) dressed as a Pikachu that came around 7:30 pm. Nothing after that.
We had candy enough for a hundred plus if needed. You got a combo of a gummy and 2 min bars or a bag of chips,a mini bar and a gummy bag. 3 items per kid. Their choice.
We never shut it down officially they just didn't come lol
It's 2.02 now and at 11 we were like really not anyone?
Times I guess have changed. We use to get at least 2 pillow cases full.
I remember one year in redcliff in like grade 6 we had 2 pillow cases full by 8 and we took a third out till about 9:40 and came back with at least 3/5 th full

Full bars is life as a trick or treater. The mini bars are a rip off as most hoses give 2 maybe 3 ( mine included) . I'd give full bars all the time but this year I just don't have a big enough purse to do it.

Okay, I #### you not, someone was handing out mini containers of ice cream.
"Hey, that's novel and fun!"...okay I hear you, but it was 87 degrees F last night on an unusually warm night. That ice cream needed to be consumed on the spot, otherwise it melted and covered the rest of the candy in the bag.
The worst part? It came with advertising. It was from a realtor who had put their company information on an ice cream scoop along with a flyer for recent listings and selling prices in the area. Of course, that stuff was contained in a sealed plastic bag. Smart to protect your marketing materials, but didn't do much for me when I'm washing candy wrappers when the kids get home.
I was absolutely livid on so many levels.

Ended up with 101 kids in our end of Sunnyside, pretty much right on average for the last few years.
