Meh. On a good team, Toffoli would be a third-line forward. If he scores 50 goals this year, it's only because the Flames haven't got a real RW, who, presumably, would score 75.

Great record to start the season given the Flames still haven’t found their ideal lines or found good chemistry if they have.

Flames dominated the 2nd in possession and zone time . but neither team gave up much in the way of high danger chances in the final 40 . tell tale sign of two teams with top 5 blue lines

PK was excellent

Positives:
Kadri
Markstrom
PK
Physical play

Negatives:
5 on 5 game, team lacked cohesion and crispness, feel like I can count the number of good transition chances they had all game on one hand.
Lindholm/Huberdeau really struggling to do anything.
Thought defensive unit didn’t have a great game, struggled to execute clean retrievals or to hold the play up the ice. Zadorov looked especially lumbering and far too slow to make decisions.

Can’t fault the effort against a tough opponent, but there’s def been a decline in the quality of 5 on 5 execution and decision making. Wonder if it’s the bug going around

I love Sutter and think he’s a great coach but this panel giving him so much credit for putting Toffoli out is laughable. Why not show the bench and the coach tapping the player on the shoulder before every goal scored… what a genius.

(I guess a full season of Lehkonen replaces some of it)
I think they were also hoping that Newhook would take a step

That 4 minute penalty kill was the highlight of the night for me. Years from now coaches will be showing clips of it saying this is how you kill a penalty!

Funny - I don't even notice them. Nada. Any of them. Just seem to be able to tune them all out. (Now if only we could JUST get rink sounds with no announcer....)

And they probably weren't anticipating another long term injury to Landeskog.

understandable tbh ... but obviously the top 5 goalie is in there as shown tonight and people just need to have some patience maybe so he can find his groove again

Another great game by Andersson.

Really even game. I thought the Flames looked sloppy at times, but I just had to remind myself that the Hurricanes are a really good team and many people have them as a SC favourite. I am sure they played a part in how everything looked.
