For the record, I think he's also great in the zone once set up, but to fully utilize him you need two fast forwards that can take quick passes, at high speed. This is where Toffoli isn't much of an option until the play is settled in the oppositions zone.
I’ve been on record saying that Lindholm isn’t the right center for Huberdeau. Gaudreau and Lindholm worked great because Gaudreau did all the heavy lifting with the puck on his stick and Lindholm played well off that doing the checking and dirty work.

I said last week that Backlund would be a better center for Huberdeau and I liked what I saw from them tonight. Backlund does a great job moving the puck up the ice and I think that’ll give Huberdeau the time and space to use his vision and make plays.

Just wondering, who did he play with last year in Florida? Was Bennett fast player? Or Bennett just faster than Toffoli?

I think we have may have watched the similar highlights. When the trade first broke, there was a guy who put out a highlights package showing the type of plays Huberdeau made (basically stating he was a very different kind of set up man than Gaudreau was), and most plays were made on the rush, not much of it was him actually carrying the puck in. I haven't really seen him make plays downlow, and I feel like Lindholm is not so much of a dump and chase kind of guy. Huberdeau's adjustment is also playing with 2 righties for the first time.

I feel like a Lindholm/Kadri swap could work, or a Toffoli/Mang swap as much as I don't want to split the 2nd line. Yeah, it's just 4 games into the season. But gotta get the big guns rolling 5 on 5.

Yes I literally mean they will go 0-82…

Sharks are going to get clobbered in any division but the Atlantic would be a nightmare.

Replacing Hanifin and Kylington with Stone and Mackey = a much slower defense that is also much less skilled at getting the puck out of the Flames’ zone.

Sabres apparently have been outshot all season .. shooting at an obscene percentage right now but if that subsides and it will, the wins will be much harder to come by

Not sure what was worse -- that game, or the Joey MacDonald jersey I saw on the way out

Could be right. Could be just a playoff format thing though and they may end up with better records than Metro div teams. It’s right but ya, no way Montreal finishes last. Buffalo or Ottawa can make playoffs this year though it’ll be close.

You just called

Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit, and Montreal "ridiculous" like in a good way lol

Actually, I think Lindholm is fantastic at the dump and chase game. His line’s problem is that they don’t generate enough speed in transition to dump and chase effectively. Also, Huberdeau and Toffoli aren’t the most effective checkers either, so they’re sort of a mess of a line that doesn’t really generate much on the rush or check very well.

he doesnt but huberbeau has a much bigger bag of tricks than Johnny does .. gaudreau often ran out of ideas and would go for sharp angles or circle back .. huby is more creative, but doesnt carry the puck enough to transition like John . there are pros and cons
