If I am over the top negative then you are over the top positive. There is nothing wrong with the points I am making

CapFriendly and Forecaster both list him as a LW/RW, but I’m not sure how much time he has actually spent at RW

Seems like no risk decent reward move. Feels kind of like the Simon acquisition but no cap hit yet

Man that used to drive me nuts with Tkachuk... multiple attempts on the same shift sometimes, and often turning an easier higher percentage opportunity into something less likely to work in the hope of making the plays of the week or whatever.
Ugh

I wonder if this has any relation to Pelletier's poor performance in the rookie games. Doesn't look like he should be penciled in at this point. Of course, hardly any weight should go into the games.
Either way, I'd be happy with Milano on board.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Decisions like this weren't made based off a poor performance or two in a rookie tournament before main camp. Zero chance.

Could fill the 3rd line wing spot thats open.
I wonder if the lackluster showing by flames prospects last week factored in to this.

Sutter was fine with Huselius, Gaborik, I’m sure others.
I think inconsistency, more than inability, is what sinks players with Sutter.

I'm not overjoyed with this like a lot of people are, but I'm sure he'll be fine.

Will take 1000 Milanos before Virtanen. A tryout means he must make an impression to stay! Not much down side.

This is a good PTO. Offensive production potential. And he's not Virtanen. So that's two W's in one day for CGY.

Sutter acquired Huselius, who was the pinnacle of one-dimensional. It's all about managing deployment.

He either makes the team, and they sign him for league minimum, or he doesn't, and they release him. I don't get how people can not like it. I mean, I get not liking a PTO for Virtanen, due to his off-ice issues, and not wanting him wearing a Flame jersey regardless of how he plays, but I don't get not liking the Eakins or Milano PTOs.
Free option.

I suspect some people don't like the notion of additional roadblocks for the kids. I say "competition = good"

Sure, absolutely. Don't disagree with any of that. There are some on other social media platforms proclaiming him as another guaranteed top-nine or even top-six forward for this Flames team, though, and my attitude toward this tryout is quite a bit more muted in comparison. We'll see what happens.

Milano is what he is - a 26 year old who has never come close to meeting his 1st round expectations. Last year was his 'breakout' year, but that came under some very favourable deployment that he is unlikely to ever see again in his career.
However, it helps fill that needed vet quota for the playoffs, and competition is always good. If he earns a contract, that means the Flames are better because he replaced someone worse in the lineup. If not, I hope he gets a chance to sign somewhere else. One good thing that he offers is great speed. Will be fun to watch him during the preseason.

Yeah, PTOs are longshots to make it - that's why they're PTOs. But Milano is an NHL player when he's healthy, so there's some reason to be optimistic.

I think if Milano comes in and shows he can play to Sutter's expectations in his own end, he could be a great fit in the top nine. This could be a chance for another career season.
