I have a sinking feeling that this is the darkest timeline and we're in for a Tampa/Edmonton cup final

Fortunately, fans’ feelings have no impact whatsoever on outcomes.

Giroux should have wanted to go to Colorado instead of Florida. The West is much easier than the East this season. The East is a crapshoot with all playoff teams having 100+ points. Everyone pretty much has the Avs coming out of the West, and with no Vegas in the playoffs this season plus a weak Pacific Division and weak Wildcard teams, the Avs pretty much have a place in the WCF on lock, and most likely a Finals birth. The only reasons I can think he chose Florida was the stay out East as well as the weather in Florida lol.

It seems like we’re headed for an unstoppable force (Avs) vs an immovable object (Bolts) 7 game Cup Finals death match, which will be absolutely insane.

The Avs absolutely HAVE to take advantage of MacKinnon’s $6.3 million cap hit this season and next and win the Cup either this year or next, because that number is going to be at least $12 million after the 2022-2023 season. It seems like this might be the year.

TLDR: Giroux dun goof’d. Avs win the Cup.

Pretty shocking to end this way.

So much of the playoffs is mental and momentum-based.

People said Tampa looked like they were running on fumes against Toronto, or had lost it finally.

Next thing you know, they just snap back into their old rhythm and are running like a well oiled machine.. Dispose of T.O. and never look back.

Fingers crossed the Flames can have a similar transformation in the coming days.

This is 2019 but in the second round...
Top team in the NHL in Florida is swept, top Flames team is getting worked by a superstar... Oilers in 5???

I for one am certain Joe Thornton is a lousy influence on any young guys he plays with. Great regular seasons from him over the years but playoffs he's always meh. Anyway, not sure if this has been posted but it's funny:

Maybe, but not how I see it as a fan.
A team losing in round 2 is equal to a team losing in round 2.
When we be the Oilers, they didn't make it further than Florida.

By your revenue metric, a team going Rd 1, 7 games, Rd 2 lose in 7;
Is better than a team winning sweep, sweep, get swept in round 3.
I'm doubtful any owner thinks that way, if they do it's a stupid way to qualify playoff success as fans.

How is that the darkest timeline?

Tampa wins in a sweep and three peat. CP rejoices.

Kadri getting under the Blues skin. Draws 2 penalties at pretty much the same time. 5 on 3 for the Aves. Could possibly be game over in the next 2 minutes, if Aves capitalize.
