I hope tonight is better, but I'm not holding out much hope.

That being said, I love this organization and team, and hope tonight is better. GFG!
Even last series when we were clearly the better team in 6/7 games after scoring a huge OT goal all the talk was about Jake Oettinger. Just as it was for the previous 6 games.

Like, I get it, it’s a cool storyline. But I want to hear about the Flames too. This series has been nothing but McDavid. Even when the Flames won they just talked about how he had 4 points.

Mix in some Flames talk. The only time they talked about the Flames last broadcast was when they interviewed Backlund and they asked him… about McDavid…

According to ESPN, Tkachuk told Weekes the key is to play 5 on 5. No surprise, but if the team is on their game they won't engage in the antics if the refs are going to try and take over.

We will see if the Flames stay disciplined (I think they will), then we'll see if the refs force stupid penalties anyway.

Tonight is very pivotal for the series, and not just the win or loss.
Either the Flames manage to play their game & dominate or we find out there's no way to stay 5 on 5, in which case Oilers will take the series.

They have known this since before the series started, but they are having a really difficult time sticking to it. I just don't know how they can apply their physical game and still avoid penalties, because the minute you make the Oilers flinch, you get a penalty.

Hopefully Markstrom can lock it down, because I think the best hope is to just run and gun against the Oilers. The Flames have the better goaltending and defense on paper, and can roll 4 lines in a way the Oilers can only dream of, but McDavid and Draisaitl are guaranteed several high quality scoring chances.

Flames need to simply be far smarter with their puck management and positioning when McDavid is on the ice. No other line is capable of doing anything.

If they don't they'll bleed chances or just end up taking a penalty.

Also, markstrom needs to be the better goalie every game. He's been a liability in game 1 and not really a difference maker in the second. If smith and Makrstom play at the same level, or smith outplays markstrom, oilers win the series.

I hope markstrom figures it out.

Picked up some Flames ice cream. I’m sure that will propel us to victory.

If Markstrom gives up another 5 goals I would sit him for game 4, Oilers big guys seem to be in head and it's a season long problem.

Well gentlemen I wish all of us an evening of well intentioned cheering, alcohol infused swearing, and a god damn W cause we in C town ####ing deserve it. I kindly request the refs are fair, Backlund remains a stud, and McDavid skates full speed into a post.

Jesus, I just realized it's a 6 p.m. start time. I would have missed half the game for christs sake.

As crazy as it sounds, this may be exactly right. Instead of trying to hold McDrai to 2 and win 3-2, maybe the 9-6 mark is how you beat these turkeys. Just let Marky make more saves than Smith, and shoot the damn lights out.

Those are the refs in the OP from this morning, or do you mean a change from Game 2? That's not unusual.

But getting away from Kozari and Lee should be a positive.

Oops, I’m in my own little world. I assumed it was the same refs for the series.
