Crazy to think we might have seen Monahan play his last game in a flames jersey

Medical staff continue being subservient to the whims of the players rather than taking control of the situation. Working out real great, not even getting him ####ing tested until he says something to you right after he had to get a major ####ing hip surgery. Jesus christ

I'm not surprised they're doing the other hip. I've generally believed for the most part once you get one the other isn't far behind needing to be done. Same kind of thing with knees.

Tree did specify labrum. So definitely a wear and tear.thing. I'm guessing it wore out more once the first one happened as your body will naturally take pressure off the injured side and put more strain on the good side.

Or, now that both sides will have been addressed, these hip injuries could be behind him.
Can you really recover from double hip surgery to play at a high level again?

Objective is clear now: Go all the way for Mony.

Monny clearly goes to LTIR opening up both cap and roster room.
Still have only 4 regular recalls for the rest of the regular season.

And with extra forwards on the roster don't need to call him up unless you are sure he is going to get ice time.

I love it that Tre is standing up for him but I don’t like it that he’s giving Mony kudos for playing without telling anyone for months.
IMO Treliving both praised and rather indirectly criticized the player in the same breath.

The net effect of dealing with this now is that the team no longer has Richardson. So not a disaster by any stretch.

What a warrior. Playing on two bad hips.

Never took a shift off, he just couldn’t play like he used to.

Agreed 100%. The whole thing is baffling. Impossible to know specifics but it is the second year in a row where there’s been an extremely awkward handling of a major injury.

Presumably there would have been ample physical testing done because the player doesn’t look right all season, or at least was largely ineffective. How could something like this sneak up on them, especially at the least opportune time?

I don't blame him for holding out this year and trying to battle through after getting the other hip worked on. I wouldn't want to go back to the doctor either, after all he went through last offseason.

Best of luck to Sean and hope he's still able to be at the rink and provide support for his teammates.

Maybe they can bring him back for the 2023 playoffs.

I think it happened naturally after the 1st hip surgery. Different ppl but my mom had a knee replacement and her other knee went during the rehabilitation of the new one.

Have we? What exactly are they going to do with him this summer?

Buyout? Is this even possible with him being injured?

Trade with retention? I guess still possible

LTIR next season? Doesn't seem to be how this team handles things.

I wish Monahan a quick and full recovery. But to think about the cap situation, if Monahan is not ready to return to play next season, the Flames can park his cap to LTIR, thus freeing 6+ mil, to cover the raises for Johnny, Tkachuk, Magiapane, Kylington, etc. Which would be pretty good.

Poor guy. Must have been brutal for him to be such a great contributor earlier in his career and then bottom out so quickly. You don't get to be as good as he is without incredible commitment. I sure hope he can recover and maybe even come back. Good luck, Mony. You are a way tougher guy than all the losers that criticize you without knowing the whole story.

Fair point.

But maybe there was a tipping point more recently.

Who knows. I think his rehab timeliness will dicate what happens.

I suspect though, they're gonna keep monny.

I haven't ever heard Tree swear. And he swore twice in the same presser.

Sad news. Monahan has been a great warrior for this team. I wonder what the offseason brings.
