It wasn't really much of a poke at all. Didn't seem dirty at all to me. Beagle just frustrated his team losing 5-0 and took it out on Ducks. I also don't mind if a Canuck would send a message if another team is gonna do that, but Beagle crossed the line imo

Ducks star Trevor Zegras was NOT happy with Jay Beagle going after Troy Terry…
“It’s humiliating and I think he should be f****** punished.” https://t.co/yfeZRdNh4Z

What exactly did Beagle do wrong? crosscheck is pretty tame, its 5-0 don't be poking the goalie. Terry is the one who comes flying in there looking for a fight, he got one.
I would have no problem is a Flames player did any of that...in fact I would be happy about it
What exactly would the punishment be for? a minor crosscheck or beating a guys ass when he starts the fight?

To poke a goalie in a five nothing game is going to draw a reaction every single time. After that Terry went and engaged Beagle not the other way around. Maybe he went to try and tie someone up in a fight but he punched him in the head with a gloved fist initially and then got smoked repeatedly

So Zegras took a poke at the Coyotes goalie going for a lose puck and Beagle drills him in the back with a cross check. Then things escalated after that and Beagle just started absolutely feeding Troy Terry who wasn't ready for it at all and hadn't even dropped his gloves. Absolutely classless from Beagle. Then Tyson Nash commentating about how those young players need a good beating for being all hot doggy and stuff.
|
If he "wasn't ready for it", then that was his problem.
Terry engages Beagle with a punch to the head with gloves on...then gets fed his lunch and people are blaming the guy who got hit first?
Yeah....no.

This is pretty cool and looks to be unscripted....and notice that the newest Sabre is the guy who makes it happen.

Varlamov gets 2 straight starts in net on consecutive nights and makes 27 saves for the SHUTOUT as the Islanders beat the Rangers 3-0. It's Varlamov's 2nd shutout this season against the Rangers and had 4 shutouts last season. This guy "blanked them for the fourth straight time at MSG."
The Ducks finally win their first game in the past 11 games. They beat the Ducks 5-0. Stolarz gets the SHUTOUT making 22 saves. Vejmelka was pulled after letting in 3 goals in under 10 minutes of the first period.
The rookie goalie for the Knights is keeping his team in the playoff hunt. Thompson made 26 saves in the Knights 5-2 win over the Kraken in this repeat game. Dandonov had 2 assists. The Knights win both games by 3 goals and neither team could score on the PP in both games.
The Sabres had a good crowd because a banner was raised for the longtime PBP commentator Rick Jeanneret. The Sabres won 4-3 in reg time and it was 3-3 after the 1st period!

Especially when you consider that while Beagle is obviously tougher than Terry, i his near decade long career he has only been in a single fight so it isn’t as though he went out there in order to goon up skilled players. Terry literally goes from across the ice to engage Beagle and gives him a decent shot to the head with a gloved fist. That is going to invite a response every time. I don’t know why Terry didn’t defend himself at all, at least just turtle or something rather then just stand there.
