Why is Ottawa required to “disclose the list” on the trade call with Vegas? Did Vegas ask for it? Sounds like no. It’s not like they didn’t know there was a list.

Yeah if what is being reported is true, it is not Dadonov's fault that his no trade list wasn't forward to Vegas. His no trade should be held up.

Makes Vegas seem incompetent.
They knew this guy could submit a no trade list, right? They should if they bothered to read his contract.
And so they didn’t have his list and just assumed he never submitted it and decided to move forward with a trade without ever doing any due diligence to see if a list existed?
What a bunch of morons.

All Dadonov has to do at the time was acknowledge that the Knights were not on his list and go along with the trade. No reason for him to ask if the Knights knew of anything, since he wasn’t asked to waive anything at the time.
Failure of due diligence on the part of the Knights, and even if they knew, were they shuttling the trade because of the chance they (a) would want to trade a guy they got the previous off season and (b) it would be to Anaheim.

As long as this screws Vegas over, that's all that matters.

It's kind of up to the team who currently has the contract to know everything. I can't believe that no one from Vegas wouldn't have read the contract and noticed that they needed the no-trade list as well.
I am somewhat pleased that a player had a California team on his list. I doubt that happens often.

This seems like the blame falls completely on the Knights and I can't see the NHL taking their side if it's true that his NTC was properly submitted to the Sens
You can look at Dadonovs capfriendly and know he has a 10 team no trade list. Vegas has to do their due diligence and talk to Dadonovs agent if they didn't know the details and status of his active NTC

I can't imagine that Anaheim ends up on a no trade list very often. VGK probably assumed that the 7 Canduan Teams, Seattle, Arizona, and Buffalo were the 10 teams without thinking to ask.

Totally agree.
Okay so what happens to Vegas if they are not cap complaint now? Are they forced to waive players or something?

That’s a great question, there has to be some rule of force compliance or something written somewhere

I think they are technically compliant right now but the trade was designed to open up room to bring back Stone and Martinez off LTIR. So now they can't do that. But you also just can't stash guys on LTIR to be cap compliant.
Teams can make trades after the deadline, the player(s) involved just can't play in playoffs. So if this trade gets wiped then Vegas needs to find someone to take Dadonov who, 1) isn't on his modified NTC and, 2) isn't making the playoffs so doesn't care if he can't play in the playoffs and, 3) wants Dadonov (to some degree).
Basically, the other team will have Vegas over a barrel and Vegas is going to look ridiculous giving up extra assets. I suppose there's a situation where they can't work a deal and then there's a bunch of punishments the league can lay out for not being compliant up to and including forfeiture of games.

I think they can't activate one of the guys currently on LTIR without transferring someone else there.
Right now Stone, Martinez, and some schlubb are on LTIR. By dumping Dadonov and say they put Lehner on LTIR, they could free up enough cap space to activate Stone if he was able to play and get him back on the roster.

When did Jay Feaster start working in the Vegas front office? I must have missed that news.

Vegas’ recent treatment of their players should show other players what a clown show the organization is. Hopefully they keep creating a bad rep and lose out on future big names.

This is Vegas. My money's on Dadonov being injured in a back alley somewhere in town if he refuses to waive his NTC.

This is basically what happens to those who think they are the smartest guys in the room. Vegas kept playing cutesy with LTIR and got burned. Looks good on 'em!

For each player they fail to activate players from LTIR when they are healthy, they should be docked a 1st round pick for their attempt at cap circumvention via a pyramid scheme.
