Montreal is really cashing out this year. Good for them.

Edmonton also adds over $1 million to their cap and gets two years older. Combined with the second round pick, that is a massive overpay. They give up a 6/7 guy for a 5/6 guy for six weeks.

Holland must be under a lot of pressure.

Not for most teams, but for them that's not all that bad a pick up TBH. It won't make a difference either way mind you, but still.

Kulak averaged 18 minutes a night for Habs. This probably says more about their depth than it does about the player.
And let's not pretend Lagesson is any good.

One young player's career potentially saved today, and another asset burned at the altar of no good.

Solid transaction

But...but..Gene and Spec were on this morning saying there were no players available that could improve the Oilers.

Second-round pick because Montreal agreed to take on salary (Lagesson) to make the numbers work? Or is this the Oil being the Oil?

Earlier this season it was reported that the Oilers didn't want to pay a second for the price Philly was asking for Martin Jones.

I'd be incredibly upset if we traded a second for Kulak.

A second round pick for a 5-6 guy that doesn't actually improve their depth at all as "the next man up" is still the "next man up" since they had to trade their 6-7 guy...

Huge overpay I'd say, especially since he doesn't move the needle at all (according to Spec no one who was available could move the needle so... yeah).

Must be a win for the Oilers because Lagesson is absolutely awful. He shouldn't even be in the NHL.

He wasn’t until he got traded!
